What began as the fear of failing a history class has translated into Homer Spring being on the precipice of becoming one of the newest members of the North Carolina Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. As a junior at White Oak High School, Spring remembers vividly being told he needed to become a wrestler by his history teacher, Bill Parrish, who also happened to coach wrestling and football.
