Lee Carroll Awards presented at Rocky Mount
The 2012 Lee Carroll Award was presented to the Rocky Mount Gryphons’ State Placers, Alexander Knight and Jaciento Williamson. The TakeDown Report Editor Martin Fleming and Lee Carroll presented the award trophies and engraved wooden plaques to Alexander and Jaciento. The Lee Carroll award recognizes outstanding wrestlers in the Tar-Roanoke Rivers area. The wooden plaques are for being at the top of the Top 12 in their weight class in eastern North Carolina.
Carroll was an undefeated state champion at Tarboro High in just his 3rd season of wrestling and a 3 time national qualifier at N. C. State University. Lee has gone on to become an adjunct professor at NC State University and is the owner of an interactive development firm located in Raleigh.
