Shown below is a photo from our 1976 Sectional (Reg.) Champion team after the tournament at Rose High. James Johnson was on his way to winning DHC’s first-ever state title the next week. To my left, Jesse Davis would win a state title in ’77. The little trophy was all we got as the state wasn’t spending much on team awards! Lesson: it’s not the size of the award that counts.
