RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State head coach Pat Popolizio has announced the Wolfpack’s 2016-17 schedule. The Pack’s slate includes 14 scheduled duals and five tournaments during the regular season, before NC State defends its ACC title by hosting the conference championship March 4 in Reynolds Coliseum.
“This year’s schedule has great balance between dual meet and individual competitions,” said Popolizio. “We made some changes to our schedule, to add more individual type competitions by adding The Tussle and Journeymen Classic along with competing in the Midlands Championships for the second straight year.” After being displaced last season due to the impressive $35 million renovation of Reynolds Coliseum, the Wolfpack will be returning to its normal home venue for the 2016-17 season. The Pack will host five duals inside Reynolds, with a pair of ACC home duals. In addition, NC State is the host for the 2017 ACC Championship, and if the Pack were to earn a bid, NC State will also host the National Duals against a Big Ten school prior to the NCAA Championships. “We are extremely excited for the opportunity to host our dual meets in the newly renovated Reynolds,” said Popolizio. “Not only will the arena be great for the wrestlers to compete in, but the experience for the fans will be unforgettable. There is a lot of history and tradition displayed in the Reynolds Walk of Fame & History project for the fans to enjoy.”
