The sport of wrestling is officially back at Northeastern Junior College. The Plainsmen held an intersquad meet on Oct. 26, to showcase the team’s talent for the community.
The Plainsmen competed in their first official meet Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Cowboy Open. They’ll compete in their first home meet this Saturday, Nov. 12, against Northwest Kansas Tech at 5 p.m.
In the 125 pound division Tanner Watson went 0-2. Cain Apple went 1-2, with a 6-4 win by decision. Apple lost to former Sterling Tiger, Colby Duncan by fall in his final match of the day. Free Wrestling Clinics for Pitt County
We are glad to share and pass along this opportunity to boost wrestling in your community.
December is a good month for me if you’d like me to come out and do an hour or so teaching technique or strategy at a wrestling practice. If you are new to the area, I coached a state championship team and 3 state runner-ups at DHC and established the present non-scholarship team at ECU. I’ve been out to all 6 Pitt high schools and we try to support area wrestling. Reply to this email or give me a call if you’d like to give your kids a bit of a change-of-pace. You can never be quite sure what will stimulate any particular kid to further success. Here are just some areas I commonly hit:
takedown defense
basic leg wrestling
“situation” stand-ups
standing switch
turn-in or hip-heist roll
arm bars
crossface cradle series
arm drags
low single leg
sag headlock
