TDR Announces the Top 2017 Underclassman wrestler in Eastern North Carolina

TDR Editor’s Notes ; Beau Studebaker of East Carteret H.S. will be presented the Roy Heverly Award as the top Underclassmen wrestler in Eastern North Carolina. Beau was undefeated state champion at 170 lbs. in 1A with a (37-0) record. More details about a trophy presentation will announced later.

Lausier Named Head Wrestling Coach at Davidson College

TDR Editor’s Notes ; Welcome to North Carolina and good luck to Coach Lausier and the Wildcats!

DAVIDSON, N.C.  – Davidson College Director of Athletics Jim Murphy announced the hiring of Andy Lausier as the 12th head coach of the wrestling program on Thursday, April 21. “We are thrilled that Andy has accepted our offer to join the Davidson community,” said Murphy. “He brings a significant breadth of skills to our wrestling program and we welcome Andy and his family.” Lausier joins the Wildcats after serving four years as head coach at Sacred Heart University. While at SHU, Lausier helped lead only the second-ever Pioneer grappler in program history to place in the EIWA Championships. “I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead Davidson College Wrestling. I would like to thank Jim Murphy, Scott Applegate, and the entire search committee for trusting me with the future of Davidson Wrestling,” said Lausier.

St. Clair County CC in Michigan adds wrestling for the 2017-18 season

TDR Editor’s Notes ; Good News – another chance for wrestlers to continue wrestling after high school and further their education. Our congratulations and a tip of the headgear to St. Clair CCC.

St. Clair County Community College is adding wrestling to its athletic offerings beginning in the 2017-18 academic year. It will become the ninth sport at the school, joining men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball and men’s golf. “We are very excited to add wrestling to our athletic department,” SC4 Athletic Director Dale Vos said. “It will create more opportunities for our students, and open up our school to student-athletes who may not have considered us before. We are excited about the very deep talent pool available in the Blue Water Area and Southeast Michigan for us to build a team with.”
