Gardner-Webb Adds Scott Mattingly as Assistant Coach

BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb wrestling announced the addition of Scott Mattingly as assistant coach in advance of the 2018-2019 season. Mattingly comes to the Runnin’ Bulldogs after a successful stint as an assistant coach at Eastern Michigan. He spent four seasons on staff with the Eagles, joining the MAC program prior to the 2014-2015 campaign. “I am excited to bring Scott on board,” said head coach Daniel Elliott. “He was an integral part of helping build Eastern Michigan’s program and brings a high level of coaching experience to our program. I believe that Scott shares the same drive and values as I do, and I am looking forward to working with him.” Mattingly’s impact on the Eastern Michigan program was significant, with 14 wrestlers advancing to the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship during his four seasons. Five individual wrestlers finished as runners up at the MAC Championships and Kayne MacCallum won the 184-pound title this past season – marking Eastern Michigan’s first individual MAC champion since 2009.
