CHAPEL HILL — Duals against 10 top-30 NCAA finishers from 2018 and a return to the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational highlight the 2018-19 North Carolina wrestling schedule, head coach Coleman Scott announced Wednesday. The Tar Heels open the season on Nov. 4 at the Hokie Open and host Nebraska on Dec. 16 in their first home dual of the campaign. “We are excited for this upcoming season,” Scott said. “We believe as a staff that we are going to put the team in challenging situations throughout the year to help us prepare for the postseason. We are ready to build off of our performance at NCAA’s last year and continue to get better each and every time out.” Carolina’s first three duals of the year come on the road, with visits to Chattanooga on Nov. 11, Arizona State on Nov. 16 and Appalachian State on Nov. 25. After a second straight appearance at the CKLV, the Tar Heels will host 2018 top-10 finisher Nebraska at Carmichael Arena on Dec. 16. A busy holiday period will begin with the South Beach Duals on Dec. 29 and 30, at which the Tar Heels will take on Lehigh, Minnesota, North Dakota State and Indiana. UNC will then return to action on Jan. 4 in the annual quad dual with Wyoming, Army West Point and American, with this year’s event moving to Laramie, Wyoming.
