YPSILANTI, MI – A federal court granted a preliminary injunction Thursday, Sept. 27, temporarily halting the elimination of two women’s sports teams at Eastern Michigan University.  U.S. District Court Judge George Caram Steeh ruled that there was a “clear showing that (EMU is) in violation of Title IX,” meaning the university must work out a plan to bring back its women’s softball and tennis teams.

The judge ordered EMU and the two-former student-athletes who filed the complaint enter a status conference with the court on Oct. 23, to discuss the implementation of the court’s order.   “The court recognizes that its ability to craft a solution is limited and that often the parties are in a better position to accommodate the interests of both sides,” the ruling states.   Rest of the story at https://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/index.ssf/2018/09/court_ruled_emu_violated_title.html?mc_cid=b7ac0e5e57&mc_eid=2ef7cbca4b
