New city and arena, new girls duals among exciting upgrades at King of the Mountain, Nov. 30 – Dec. 2

This year’s Folkstyle Tour of America event in Colorado, the King of the Mountain, has developed numerous changes which are designed to improve and expand this popular youth folkstyle event.
The King of the Mountain has moved to Olympic City USA, Colorado Springs, Colo., and will be held in the historic Broadmoor World Arena, which is the current home of Colorado College hockey and has hosted numerous quality music concerts and sports competitions. The growing competition is set for Nov. 30 – Dec. 2.
Like all of the Folkstyle Tour of America events, there will be girls wrestling divisions included in the tournament this year. However, what makes this year’s event even more exciting for youth girls is the addition of the Queen of the Mountain girls dual meet event on Friday to join the King of the Mountain Duals. This is an invitational event, but the turnout of girls dual meet teams for this inaugural season has met and exceeded expectations.
Last year’s King of the Mountain, which was held in Castle Rock, Colo., had over 1,100 wrestlers and this year’s should be even bigger. There is a cap for main event registration at 1,000 participants and for true beginners at 400 athletes, and there still remains space for athletes to sign up during the final week of registration.
