No. 7 Wrestlers Get Five Falls in 49-3 PSAC Win Over East Stroudsburg

TDR Editor’s Notes ; It does not note it but this win is Coach Pat Pecora’s 591st and he is 2nd in career dual meet wins by college coaches. Next season he and his team could win his 600 dual meet and possibly pass Dale Thomas of Oregon State who is the top coach with 616.

Seventh-ranked Pitt-Johnstown took advantage of five falls and got a decision win at 141 lbs. by third-ranked Joey Alessandro over No. 11 Dylan Nace in a lopsided, 49-3, PSAC victory over East Stroudsburg University, Friday night in the sports Center.  The Mountain Cats improved to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in the PSAC. Pitt-Johnstown got a forfeit win by Brendan Howard at 125 lbs. to start the match, and Matt Siszka pinned Jared Altan at 4:31 in the 133-lb. bout to make it 12-0. In a match-up of ranked wrestlers at 141 lbs., Pitt-Johnstown’s third-ranked Alessandro erased a 2-1 first period deficit and dealt 11th-ranked Nace a 6-2 loss at 141 lbs., before No. 1-ranked Chris Eddins pinned Pierre Liciaga at 2:39 at 149 lbs. to increase the lead to 21-0.
Another fall at 157 lbs. from Corey Falleroni over Marquan Payne at 5:43 made it 27-0 midway through the match. East Stroudsburg got on the scoreboard at 165 lbs. when Richard Viruet got a take down with 20 second remaining in the final period to defeat Gage Thomas and make it 27-3.
