High school wrestling: Girls put on a show during their inaugural state tournament
WAVERLY, Ia. — The moment Tateum Park has long dreamed of came true Saturday afternoon. Park, a junior wrestler at Davenport North, defeated Waukon’s Meridian Snitker, 8-1, in the 113-pound final of the first-ever girls’ high school state wrestling tournament. Moments after her hand was raised, Park ran into the stands and embraced her friends and family. “It feels really nice to just have that feeling,” Park said. Did she ever think a moment like that might come? “Not really,” she admitted. “My goal has always just to make it to state against the boys, so this opportunity feels amazing.” Rest of story, video, pictures and details at https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/sports/high-school/2019/01/19/iowa-girls-state-wrestling-tournament-waverly-shell-rock-charles-city-tateum-park-colfax-mingo/2624284002/?mc_cid=44daa59b98&mc_eid=2ef7cbca4b
