BUIES CREEK, N.C. – No. 25 Campbell claimed nine of 10 decisions and cruised to a 40-4 Southern Conference victory over Gardner-Webb Tuesday at McCall Court. Campbell remained unbeaten on the year at 5-0 overall and 3-0 in SoCon action, while GWU dipped to 2-9 on the year and 0-4 in conference outings. No. 14 Noah Gonser earned his third straight win, and ninth in his last 10 outings, with a 4-0 decision at 133 pounds, and Nathan Boston followed with a 4-3 edge at 141 to give CU the 12-0 lead. Making his second consecutive start at 157, Benjamin Barton earned a 6-1 decision, while No. 16 Andrew Morgan took a 6-2 win at 174. Austin McNeill earned his first SoCon win of the season with a 10-2 major decision, using a pair of third period takedowns to collect bonus points. Heavyweight Odgerel Batkhishig put the exclamation point on the win with a pin (6:32) to close the match, pushing the score to 40-4. The Runnin’ Bulldogs forfeited three weight classes on the night, including 125, 149 and 184 pounds. Tyler Marinelli gave GWU its only points with a major decision at 165 pounds.
