We are counting down the days until the 2019 NCAA Tournament officially begins in Pittsburgh, PA. In the meantime, let’s take a look back at some of the most successful college wrestlers from the Keystone State. Throughout NCAA history Pennsylvania has seen seventeen wrestlers earn All-American honors four years in a row. Additionally, seven wrestlers have captured NCAA National Championships three out of four years.
In 2019 one wrestler, Jason Nolf (Kittanning/Penn State), could add his name to both prestigious lists. The all-time pins leader at Penn State – he has finished second, first, and first in the last three NCAA Tournaments at 157 pounds. It’s only fitting that the former WPIAL stand-out will etch his name in history at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. Only 27 wrestlers ever have become 3-time NCAA Champions and Nolf would be the 28th overall and 8th from Pennsylvania.
