Wolf Pack Wrestling Adds Ferreira as Transfer

Sophomore wrestled as true freshman at Bucknell last year
RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State wrestling head coach Pat Popolizio has announced the transfer of Jacob Ferreira to the Wolfpack program. A native of Mt. Kisco, N.Y., Ferreira spent last season at Bucknell. Ferreira will be a sophomore for the upcoming 2019-20 season, and will be eligible to compete right away wrestling at 184/197 pounds. “Jacob is a great late addition to our squad,” said Popolizio. “He comes from a notable club in Empire Wrestling Academy that we are very familiar with. We’ve been very fortunate to have recruited guys both in the past and have members of our current team from Empire.

“He will be a valuable option on this year’s squad to our upper weights. Having one year of college wrestling under his belt his is a huge advantage for us.” Ferreira wrestled last season at 184 pounds as a true freshman. He finished with a 15-11 record, all at 184 pounds, and was second on his team with five pins. His top finish was second place at the Mat Town Open. Before Bucknell, Ferreira was a 2018 state runner-up and two-time state qualifier at Horace Greeley High School. He finished his prep career with 126 wins as a three-year team captain.
