The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team defeated Oswego 29-14 Wednesday evening at G. Hal Chase Gymnasium. The win lifts the Red Dragons record to 10-7 on the season while Oswego falls to 5-9.

Michael Smith (Smithtown/Smithtown West) got Oneonta off on the right foot with a 15-5 major decision over Daniel Fishman in the 125-pound match. Respectful rivals ready to do battle again in Battle of the ‘Burgs
It was a spontaneous moment for Wartburg College’s Jim Miller. In year two of his resurrection of the Knights’ wrestling program, Miller was standing on a stage at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Ct., and Wartburg had just accepted the runner-up trophy for the 1993 Division III National Championships. At the bottom of the steps national champion, then Augsburg College, now Augsburg University stood waiting to take the stage to claim its championship trophy. “We were on the stage and were coming off and I told my athletes to follow my lead,” Miller, now the Executive Director of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum in Waterloo, Iowa. “So, we shook their hands. WAVERLY, Iowa — Winning the final five bouts of the dual after No. 2-ranked Augsburg University had taken a 14-3 lead, top-ranked Wartburg College claimed a 19-14 victory in the annual “Battle of the Burgs” matchup between the two NCAA Division III men’s wrestling powerhouses on Thursday evening at Wartburg’s Levick Arena.

TRIO OF SENIORS LEAD LYNX MATMEN TO VICTORY ON SENIOR NIGHT
SAINT LOUIS– On Thursday, the Lindenwood-Belleville wrestling team hosted its only dual meet of the season when it welcomed American Midwest Conference rival Hannibal LaGrange to the friendly confines of Lynx Arena. Thanks to a trio of bonus point victories, the Lynx came away with a 23-21 victory over the Trojans on Senior Night. Coach Pecora Looks for Record-Setting Win Against Mercyhurst
Pitt-Johnstown wrestling Coach Pat Pecora will look to pick-up his historic 617th career victory and become college wrestling’s all-time winningest coach when his fourth-ranked Mountain Cats host No. 11 Mercyhurst for Alumni Night, Friday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.  
A Pitt-Johnstown victory over the 11-ranked Lakers would break a 46-year-old record and make Coach Pecora the winningest coach in all levels of college wrestling, including NCAA Division I, II, and III, NAIA, and Junior College. Adrian College Steamrolls Defiance for Record 12-Win Season on Senior Night, 46-9
ADRIAN, Mich.–The Adrian College men’s wrestling team made program history in front of an enthusiastic Merillat Sport & Fitness Center crowd on Thursday night with a 46-9 victory over visiting Defiance College on Senior Night, producing the Bulldogs’ first-ever 12-win season. Adrian, which recorded four pins during the rout, improves to 12-5 in dual matches while the Yellow Jackets drop to 1-6 overall.
