ST. ANDREWS ATHLETICS ADDS WOMEN’S WRESTLING AND BEACH VOLLEYBALL

Laurinburg, NC – The St. Andrews University Athletics Department has added two more competitive sports.  The Knights will be bringing Women’s Wrestling and Women’s Beach Volleyball to Laurinburg.  According to the National Wrestling Coaches Association, there are 70+ colleges that now sponsor a varsity wrestling program.  The number of women wrestling in high school has gone from 804 in 1994 to 21,124 as of 2019.  Head Coach of the new Women’s Wrestling team, Nick Soto, shared his enthusiasm about the new sport coming to St. Andrews: 
“We are extremely excited about the start of our women’s wrestling program. It’s great to see more and more women competing in the sport and we are grateful to be able to provide an opportunity where these student-athletes can earn a quality education and compete at a high level. Laurinburg is a great place with a tight-knit, friendly community and we’re eager to get going!”
