50 Years For Coach Murray; 50 Winning Seasons for Brockport Wrestling
As a team, the Golden Eagles went 9-1 in dual meets this past year as legendary Head Coach Don Murray secured his 50th year without a losing season. He is believed to be the only coach in NCAA history that has ever achieved this feat. Brockport placed third as a team at the NCAA Regional and also placed second at the New York State College Tournament. Murray also holds the distinction of longest active tenured coach in any sport in Division III.
Individual season highlights included regional championships, NCAA qualifications and All-American honors for Matt Caccamise, Richard Knapp and Elijah Sims. This makes 146 All-Americans for the Brockport Wrestling program.
The Golden Eagles were consistently ranked in the top 25 of the national polls all season long, including a national ranking of #23 in December.  
Six members of the team were named ECWC All-Academic and three Golden Eagles were named NCWA Scholar All-Americans. 
Caccamise, ranked No. 5 nationally at the end of the season, finished his season with a 30-2 overall record and placed first in the 125 pound weight class at the NCAA Regionals to punch his ticket to nationals for the second consecutive season.  He won the regional title following a thrilling 7-5 sudden victory win over nationally-ranked No. 7 Daniel Ortega of TCNJ. He opened the season with a first place finish at the Brockport Open and he also added tournament victories at the New York College Tournament and the John Summa Invite.  He placed second at the New Standard Invite and third at the Mount Union Invitational.
Knapp finished the season ranked No. 9 nationally by InterMat Wrestling.  He capped his season with a 34-3 overall record and placed first in the 285 pound weight class at the NCAA Regionals to punch his ticket to nationals for the first time in his career.  He won the regional title following a thrilling 3-2 decision win over Keegan Connelly of Scranton.  His road to the regional title also included a redemption victory over RIT’s Sam Weinger (3-1 decision), who he had lost to in a dual meet earlier in the season.
