1 } – GAVIN KANE TALKS COMING TO CAROLINA, WRESTLING WITH BROTHER
With UNC’s freshman class in Chapel Hill this season, the Tar Heels now have three sets of brothers on the team. Gavin Kane, whose brother, Devin, was a Round-of-12 wrestler for Carolina in 2019, joins the team after winning four Georgia state titles.
This week, he sat down with GoHeels.com to discuss joining the Carolina culture, wrestling with his brother and more.
GoHeels: What is it like to wrestle at the collegiate level with your brother, Devin?
Kane: Being able to wrestle on the same team as my brother is a dream come true. We haven’t been on the same wrestling team since he was in fifth grade and I was in first. It brings back memories of him being a role model to me. Knowing we both have the experience to both wrestle at the college level is something I thought would never happen. He helps me every day with getting comfortable around the team and showing me what it takes to be competitive in college. … rest of story at https://goheels.com/news/2020/10/29/gavin-kane-talks-coming-to-carolina-wrestling-with-brother.aspx?mc_cid=8d4526dbd7&mc_eid=2ef7cbca4b

7 } – NATIONAL SIGNING DAY: Grundy grappler Peyton McComas signs with Gardner-Webb wrestling program
GRUNDY, Va. – Grundy High School senior Peyton McComas has grown into a two-time state champion wrestler and has matured into an NCAA Division I grappler. McComas signed a letter-of-intent Monday with Gardner-Webb.
His now 6-foot-5 frame has served him well in high school and the maturing process will serve him well in college, says his high school coach, former Iowa All-American Travis Fiser.
“He’s really grown, not only physically, but in maturity, as a good wrestler and a good athlete,” Fiser said. “Typically, guys that are 6-5, 6-4 are on the basketball court and Peyton’s one of those guys who really loved wrestling and I really think that’s really gonna help in college, with the size and the leverage that he’ll have. “There’ll be some big guys there, but he has the frame to put the size on and he’ll do well. That’s a great pick-up for Gardner-Webb.” McComas also heard from Virginia Tech, VMI, Roanoke College and Averett University before deciding on Gardner-Webb. … rest of story at https://heraldcourier.com/sports/national-signing-day-grundy-grappler-peyton-mccomas-signs-with-gardner-webb-wrestling-program/article_5e3f2178-248a-11eb-826d-171b5ee69a75.html?mc_cid=ebacab18d4&mc_eid=2ef7cbca4b
