The first all-girls high school wrestling dual meet in Montana high school wrestling history took place Saturday when Kalispell Flathead High School battled district foe Kalispell Glacier High school at the Glacier High School gym in Kalispell, Montana. While the outcome was lopsided (Flathead won 78-6), coaches from both teams took a big picture approach to the historic dual. “I think it is a huge step forward for girls wrestling in the state of Montana,” Glacier coach Ross Dankers said. “It was really special that in the first year of it being sanctioned we were able to line up 13 matches between two teams in the same valley. I think it is good for the rest of the state to see that this is a sport that girls want to do and hopefully it will get the ball rolling on recruiting and building programs statewide.” Jeff Thompson oversees the boys and girls wrestling programs at Flathead, while Amber Downing and Sully Sullivan are co-head coaches for the Flathead girls wrestling teams. … rest of story at https://www.trackwrestling.com/PortalPost.jsp?TIM=1609991250056&twSessionId=ddygjjyzzh&postId=937663135&mc_cid=4295bf0eb8&mc_eid=2ef7cbca4b
