NCAA Division III Results (2021) – #1

TDR Editor’s Notes ; A collection of some of the results of Division III matches and teams in competition during the past month. While the official NCAA National Championships tournament for Division III schools will not be held as previously scheduled there are reports of other organizations working to host a championship event for these wrestlers. 1 } – Four Crowned in Men’s Wrestling at Star City Classic
FINAL RESULTS
SALEM, Virginia — The Ferrum College men’s wrestling team had four individual champions at the Star City Classic presented by the USMC, hosted today at the Salem Civic Center. THE BASICSBraden Homsey went 4-0 with a major decision to win the 197-pound weight class. Levi Englman (133) went 3-0 with a pin and a major decision, Justin Guy (157) went 3-0 with two pins and Elijah Martin (174) went 3-0 with a pin and a tech fall through their respective title runs. Three other Panther wrestlers finished second: Mario Vasquez (141) with a pin and a major decision, Christian Hite (157) and Austin Smith (165) with a pin. Finishing third were JD McMillin (125) with a pin and a major decision, and Cris Reynoso (174) with two pins and a major decision. Joshua Johnson (174) finished fourth with one pin. Liberty University also had four individual champs, while Averett University grabbed two titles.

2 } – King’s five-second pin highlights wrestling team at Defiance
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Olivet College wrestling team posted a 16-10 overall record, including an 8-2 mark by the varsity wrestlers, in a round-robin tournament this afternoon at Defiance (Ohio) College and inside the Karl H. Weaner Center in Defiance, Ohio. 3 } – Handley grad Thompson makes history for SU wrestling
SALEM — Shenandoah University saw its 22nd intercollegiate sport officially get started Saturday as the men’s wrestling team opened its year at the U.S. Marine Corps Star City Classic at the Salem Civic Center. Seven Hornet wrestlers competed over six weight classes, and Handley freshman Hunter Thompson earned his spot in the record book by recording the Hornets’ first-ever victory. Competing at 165 pounds, Thompson pinned Dalton Biggs from Emory & Henry 58 seconds into the second period for SU win No. 1. 4 } – No. 2 Wartburg Knights Opens A-R-C With Road Win at Dubuque

5 } – Carthage Men’s Wrestling Returns with First Win Since 1994
MEQUON, Wis. — In the first season of the new era of Carthage men’s wrestling, the team picked up their first win at the CUW Duals on Saturday, defeating Lakeland 21-18 while falling to Concordia Wisconsin, MSOE, and Wheaton. “We wrestled tough today,” said head coach Alberto Quiros. “We have many things we need to improve upon, but I thought that everyone who wrestled today did so with heart. That is a lot to look up to, and I’m proud of this team today.” Carthage opened up with a 52-4 loss to the host school Concordia, with Collin Ruiz winning his match to score four. 6 } – North Central Men’s Wrestling Sweep Season Opener
Augustana Results  Elmhurst Results Millikin Results 
Jan. 24, 2021 –  Traveling down to Millikin University, the seventh-ranked North Central College men’s wrestling team took on conference rivals in their season opener.  North Central started the day with a matchup against Augustana College and jumped off to an early led with back to back tech falls from Bradley Rosen and Robert Precin to give the Cardinals an early 10-0 lead. Collin Mojena would continue the winning with a win in the 141-pound match to give the Cardinals a 13-0 lead. Dropping the 149-pound match the Cardinals would go on to win the next 4 out of the next 6 matches with one being a forfeit and cruising to a 30-15 win over Augustana College.  … rest of story at https://northcentralcardinals.com/news/2021/1/24/mens-wrestling-sweep-season-opener.aspx?mc_cid=494039af40&mc_eid=2ef7cbca4b

7 } – Bleich Wins 100th Career Match, #6 Wrestling Opens Season with Wins Over #3 John Carroll and Otterbein
BEREA, Ohio –  Senior All-American Stanley Bleich (North Ridgeville/Elyria Catholic) won his 100th and 101st career matches both against top-three nationally-ranked opponents to lead the No. 6 nationally-ranked Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team to a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference victories against No. 3 nationally-ranked and crosstown rival John Carroll University and Otterbein University inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse. 8 } – Millikin Big Blue Wrestlers Sweep All Three Matches at Wheaton Duals
The Millikin wrestling team scored three wins at the Wheaton Duals on January 29 in Wheaton College.  The Big Blue defeated Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) 44-3, Carthage College 60-0 and Wheaton College 41-4. 9} – No. 9 Duhawks Dominant in Conference Opener

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Jan. 30, 2021) – After a three week layoff from competition, the No. 9 Loras College wrestling team kicked off the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) wrestling slate by churning out a dominant performance against A-R-C foes Buena Vista University and Luther College.
The Duhawks started the day off on a high note against triangular host Buena Vista Beavers. Leading off at 125 lbs., freshman Aiden Evans picked up his first collegiate victory in the purple and gold by defeating Byron Fleming via 6-3 decision. Following the decision victory, junior Zach Licht secured a hard-fought third-period pin at 133 against Axel Hernandez. 10 } – Seven champions lead wrestling team at MIAA Individual Championships
OLIVET, Mich. – Seven Olivet College wrestlers won their respective weight class at the 2021 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Individual Championships, hosted by the Comets today inside the Cutler Event Center. In addition, four more Olivet wrestlers were finalists and finished second in their weight class. The 11 total finalists and seven champions were the most for one MIAA school. 11 } – Auggies open season by dominating Johnnies
COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. — Winning 13 of 14 bouts against the hosts, the Augsburg University men’s wrestling team competed in a non-team-scored match at Saint John’s University on Saturday afternoon. In all, 28 Augsburg wrestlers saw action in the opener of its abbreviated 2021 season.

• Augsburg claimed wins in 13 of 14 of its bouts against the Johnnies, scoring four pins, four technical falls and a major decision. Augsburg wrestlers also competed in seven intrasquad matches.
• Carl Leuer (FY, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) made his collegiate debut in impressive fashion. scoring a 49-second pin at 165 pounds. 12 } – Wrestling: #9 Mount Union Beats The Berg in Season Opener
ALLIANCE, Ohio — Mount Union’s wrestling team, ranked No. 9 in the nation, defeated Heidelberg 36-9 in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual Sunday in Peterson Fieldhouse. The Purple Raiders got wins in eight of the 10 matches and were led by pins from junior Errik Gerback (Alliance / Marlington) at 125 pounds and sophomore David Reinhart (Canfield) at 174 pounds.  Jordin James (Bedford), a senior ranked No. 1 in the nation at 141 pounds, scored an 18-3 tech fall victory and the Raiders picked up another tech fall from junior David Graber (Green) with a 22-3 win at 149 pounds. Freshman Brent Paulus (Louisville) scored a major decision in his first collegiate match with a 13-2 win at 197 pounds and junior Landon Talbert (Salem / Crestview) nabbed a major decision with a 10-1 win at 285 pounds.
