1 } – North Central Men’s Wrestling Dominates at Home
Jan. 30, 2021 – The North Central men’s wrestling team stays perfect on the season as they pick up wins against Lakeland University and Concordia-Wisconsin.  Picking up where they left off from last weekend, the men’s wrestling team dominated from start to finish with their match up against Lakeland University winning 9 out of 10 matches enroute to a 53-0 win. The dual included 5 pins in the match by Andy Poniatowski (Fall 3:22), Eddie Villalobos (Fall 0:54), Collin Mojena (Fall 1:30), Rafael Roman (Fall 2:22) , and Ben Bergen (Fall 3:55). Brock Montford picked up a tech. fall (TF 15-0 3:25) against Lakeland, while Robbie Percin, Enzo Silva, and Jason Nako won by forfeits in this match.  Wrapping up their afternoon the Cardinals faced off against Concordia (WI) and came out of the gates scoring by picking up wins by Silva (Dec 9-3) and Percin (For.) before dropping their 141 pound match to the Falcons. … rest of story at https://northcentralcardinals.com/news/2021/1/30/mens-wrestling-dominates-at-home.aspx?mc_cid=f12b64bb83&mc_eid=2ef7cbca4b
AND Wrestling Stays Perfect on the Road
Feb. 5, 2021 – The North Central men’s wrestling team closes out the regular season winning duals at Carthage.  Opening up The Carthage duals the men’s wrestling picked up a win against Wheaton College. North Central won the first 6 matches of the dual with victories by Enzo Silva (125lbs) with a major Decision, Robert Precin (133lbs) with a Tech Fall, Andy Poniatowski (141lbs) with a Decision in OT, Collin Mojena (149lbs) with a Decision, and Cole Cervantes (157lbs) with a Fall. The Cardinals dropped the 174lbs match and followed that up with Decisions by Brock Montford (184lbs) and Cody Baldridge (197lbs) and a Fall by Ben Bergen (285lbs). 
After picking up the win against Wheaton College, the Cardinals faced off against Carthage College and won convincingly winning all 10 matches. Mojena (149lbs), Cole Cervantes (157lbs), Jordan Chisum (174lbs), Montford (184lbs), and Bergen (285lbs) all picked up Falls against their respective opponents. Bradley Rosen (125lbs) with his first match of the day won by Tech Fall. 2 } – No. 6 Baldwin-Wallace Stays Perfect with Two OAC Victories
BEREA, Ohio – The No. 6 nationally-ranked Baldwin Wallace wrestling remained perfect on the season with a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference victories over Ohio Northern University and Wilmington College inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.
BW (4-0, 4-0 OAC) opened the day by defeating Wilmington (0-3, 0-3 OAC) by a final score of 50-3.  The Yellow Jackets closed the day with a 36-12 victory over Ohio Northern (2-1, 2-1 OAC).

BW won nine of 10 matches for the victory.  Sophomore All-OAC 125-pounder Jack Stanley (Brecksville/Brecksville) opened the match with a forfeit victory.    Senior All-OAC 133-pounder Dante Ginetti (Poland/Seminary) earned a 21-3 technical fall victory. 3 } – New Jersey City Men’s Wrestling Falls at Castleton; Picks up Two Individual Wins in Program’s Inaugural Match
CASTLETON, Vt. — In a day for the history books, the New Jersey City University men’s wrestling squad made the trek up to Castleton University today, Saturday, Jan. 30, for the Gothic Knights’ first official match in program history. NJCU did fall to the Spartans by an overall score of 35-9, however a pair of Gothic Knights recorded the program’s first-ever victories on the day. Head coach Harry Turner‘s program took on a strong team in Castleton (1-0) on Saturday, but as mentioned, a pair of NJCU (0-1) grapplers managed to secure wins. The first came at 149 pounds as senior Rob Cleary (Edison, N.J./Bound Brook) — a transfer from Division I Rider University — defeated Logan Dubuque of the Spartans in a 13-8 decision to put NJCU on the board with their first three dual match points in program history. 4 } – Untold Athletes – Adrian Rosario-Beato – Wrestling
Adrian Rosario-Beato is a sophomore who wrestles at 149 pounds from Bronx, N.Y. and immigrated from the Dominican Republic. Rosario-Beato is majoring in business administration at IC and won seven bouts during the 2019-20 season.

5 } – Wartburg Wrestling Earns Road Win at Luther
DECORAH, Iowa – The No. 1/2-ranked Wartburg wrestling team improved its conference record to 4-0 with a 30-14 victory at Luther College during an American Rivers Conference dual match on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021. 6 } – Ferrum Panther Men Beat Greensboro 39-12 on Senior Night
FERRUM, Virginia — Ferrum College’s men’s wrestling team earned a non-conference win tonight at home, beating Greensboro College 39-12 at Swartz Gymnasium.

7 } – Wisconsin-LaCrosse Wrestling Team Opens Season with Shutout Victory
Eau Claire, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team opened its 2020-21 season with a 36-0 dual victory at UW-Eau Claire Thursday night in McPhee Center.  The Blugolds were also competing for the first time this season.  It is UWL’s 35th straight victory over UW-Eau Claire.  The Eagles now lead the all-time series, 49-7. UWL recorded its first shutout over UW-Eau Claire since a 49-0 victory during the 2012-13 season. “Great win for this team,” said UWL head coach Dave Malecek, in his 15th season at UWL. “Each guy battled and we won some match on heart. I felt so good to be around these guys. 8 } – No. 18 Adrian College Men’s Wrestling Dominates Battling Bishops on Senior Night
ADRIAN, Mich.–The nationally No. 18-ranked Adrian College men’s wrestling team began its February schedule with a first-ever meeting versus visiting Ohio Wesleyan University on Friday in the Friday in the Merillat Sport & Fitness Center. And the Bulldogs celebrated Senior Night by taking 26 of 35 matches in the non-traditional dual match that did not feature team scores. The following student-athletes were honored after the first of three rounds of action that took place on two mats: Ethan Garcia (Holland/West Ottawa High School), Garrett Gelinski (Croswell/Croswell-Lexington HS), Brandan Kammer (National City/Tawas HS), Bryant Moore (Sand Creek HS), Noah Nieman (Palmyra/Blissfield HS) and Devon Pingel (Lapeer HS). 9} – No. 14 Tigers can’t hold on in heavyweight match; No. 11 Cumberlands wins 18-16
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — A wrestling dual coming down to the final weight class creates excitement but 11th-ranked University of the Cumberlands took that spark tonight by from behind to beat the 14th-ranked Campbellsville Tigers. The Patriots rallied to win, 18-16, to give Campbellsville its lone loss of the shortened regular season so far. The two are now tied inside the conference standings at 2-1. The night started with a big win by Brandon Miller at 125 pounds but then it was three straight decisions for the Patriots giving them a 9-3 lead. 10 } – RAMS DOMINATE WESTMINSTER IN SEASON OPENER, 41-13
MOUNT VERNON – Cornell’s wrestling team tallied bonus points in all seven of its match wins and rolled to a 41-13 season-opening dual victory in 43 minutes over Westminster Saturday inside the Small Multi-Sport Center. Coach Brent Hamm‘s Rams (1-0) recorded three falls, capped by sophomore Drake Fox (SO/Danville, Iowa)’s pin in 6:53 in the heavyweight bout. Fox led 1-0 late in the third period when he sent Kobe Kaminski to his back. Senior John Marsh (SR/Denver, Colo.) made quick work in his 174-pound match, decking Will Harper for a fall in 38 seconds. 11 } – Auggies sweep foes at Olivet Triangular
OLIVET, Mich. — Winning 39 of 54 bouts against their opponents, including 29 wins by bonus-point margins, the Augsburg University men’s wrestling team dominated in victories over Alma College (Mich.) and Olivet College (Mich.) at a triangular meet at Olivet on Sunday.

• Augsburg swept Alma 52-0, winning all 10 bouts in the dual meet and six extra matches. The Auggies claimed seven pins, four technical falls, a major decision and a forfeit against Alma opponents.
• The Auggies then toppled host Olivet 30-12, winning seven of the 10 bouts in the dual meet and claiming 16 wins in extra matches. The Auggies scored eight pins, five technical falls and three major decisions against the Comets.
• Solomon Nielsen (SR, Luverne, Minn./Luverne HS), the No. 3-ranked 174-pounder in the initial National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III national rankings, won all three of his matches, with two third-period technical falls and a decision win. (Feb. 8) – After the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) announced that its annual wrestling championships were being cancelled, the league’s member schools that sponsor the sport canceled their scheduled conference-only tri-matches. However, the Yellow Jackets aren’t giving up on competing this season just year, and have announced a match for Friday, Feb. 12, at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse. Waynesburg will play host to Garrett (Md.) College at 6 p.m. for its first dual contest since Jan. 31, 2020. N.H.S.C.A. 2021 High School Nationals

The NHSCA is pleased to announced that the 2021 High School Nationals will be held April 23-25, 2021 in Virginia Beach, Va.

For 31-years the High School Nationals has been a perfect culmination of the high school wrestling season and has served as a true showcase for your talents to the attending college recruiters.  The current NCAA recruiting dead period ends April 15th, therefore allowing college coaches to be in attendance in Virginia Beach.

High School Nationals divisions will remain the same as previous years. The event schedule and details will be made available prior to the event.

Divisions Based off of the 2020-2021 School Year:

    1. High School Boys Sophomore
    2. High School Boys Junior
    3. High School Boys Senior
    4. High School Girls
    5. Middle School

Registration for the 2021 High School Nationals will open on February 1st on nhsca-events.com and NHSCA social media accounts. Registration will remain open until April 20th.

Athletes who previously registered for the 2020 High School Nationals will be able to have their registration fee honored for the 2021 event. Details will be emailed to you prior to the opening of registration. Please see below for more detail.

This event will follow strict health and safety protocols in adherence with local & state department of health guidelines. The safety of our attendees remains our top priority. A detailed report of protocols will be sent to all registered athletes and coaches multiple times before the event and will be posted on the event page prior to the High School Nationals.
