Seeking Wrestling History Information

TDR Editor’s Notes ; We are seeking to collect as many college dual meet records for each year a college had a team. We are also seeking the names of the head coaches for each year. From this we can compile and update lists of teams and coaches by winning percentages and most dual meet wins, Athletic departments are being contacted and asked to help fill us in on the history of thier programs. Yet, schools often do not have the records and then research is undertaken in wrestling publications such as the NCAA Wrestling Guide Books which were published from 1927-1982. Amateur Wrestling News issues are also a informative resource. Records from schools that discontinued their programs decades ago are especially dificult to find. We welcome information and records from alumni and former coaches or from other publications and records.

We are seeking NCAA Guide Books from before 1946, Amateur Wrestling News magazines from 1963-’67, ’76-’78, ’81-’87, and ’94-2005. We also seek to collect some issues of the W.I.N. magazine from their first 4 or 5 years. For those in North Carolina we hope to compile as many of the N.C. Mat News issues from 1970 thru 2015. We also welcome the National Federation of State High School Associations Rule Books from the 1970s and before as they have records of state championships of the previous years included in their publications.

Contact us martinkfleming@gmail.com and share your wrestling history with us so this project can be completed.
