Manheim, PA – On Monday, the National Wrestling Coaches Association announced the 2021 Scholar All-American individual honorees for NCAA Division III with awards going to 413 individuals representing 84 institutions.
“In what has been a trying season for all, I’m excited to recognize these talented athletes who stayed the course in the classroom and continued their pursuit of excellence as they work toward their degrees,” said NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer. “The NWCA and our Board of Directors remain committed to honoring outstanding academic performance and would like to thank the coaches, support staff, and administrators at these institutions for their commitment to their student-athletes .”
This season, due to COVID-19 protocols that kept many conferences and their teams sidelined, the Division III Leadership Group was moved to make changes to this year’s awards program.  Most notably, the team component has been suspended until next season with recognition going to individuals only.  It was also decided that athletes unable to compete this season would be eligible for nomination and could receive All-America status.

4 } – Committee backs changing wrestling rules for correcting in-match timing errors
Modifying overtime rules also recommended
April 20, 2021 2:02pmGreg Johnson
The NCAA Wrestling Rules Committee recommends rules changes that allow the referee to correct timing errors when that referee has reasonable knowledge of the correction that needs to be made.
All rule proposals must be approved by the NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel, which is scheduled to discuss wrestling rules recommendations this summer.
Committee members, who met virtually last week, proposed that competition that occurs when the clock is not running is not subject to the dead time rule. The recommendation also provides parameters for referees to use when determining the amount of time to add or subtract from the score clock.
