1 } – Nebraska Adds Boo Dryden To 2021 Signing Class
Boo Dryden has joined the Husker wrestling program’s 2021 signing class, Nebraska Head Coach Mark Manning announced Friday. “We’re extremely excited to have Boo Dryden join the Nebraska wrestling family,” Coach Manning said. “Boo is a tremendous competitor and a person of high character. He fits into our culture, and we look forward to helping Boo develop and compete at the highest level for himself and our team.”
A native of Wichita, Kan., Dryden comes to Nebraska as a transfer from Minnesota with a redshirt year and one year of eligibility remaining. He wrestled at 133 pounds for the Gophers, tallying a career overall record of 13-14 and a dual record of 6-7. 2 } – Gable Steveson Returns to Minnesota for Senior Season
MINNEAPOLIS – Olympic Gold Medalist and Golden Gopher heavyweight Gable Steveson will be returning to Minnesota for his senior season to defend his NCAA national title as announced on Thursday morning. The news comes off the heels of a separate news release by the WWE that Steveson has signed an unprecedented NIL deal with the organization to be a part of the WWE roster while also finishing his collegiate career.
The announcement is only the latest installment to the list of accolades that Steveson has accrued in 2021. The decorated year for Steveson began at the conclusion of the collegiate season in which he collected his second Big Ten title, his first NCAA title, a Dan Hodge Trophy, and an Olympic Games berth in less than a month’s span, capping off one of the most impressive and most dominant runs the sport has ever seen.

3 } – Michigan wrestling star Myles Amine announces return for final collegiate season
Michigan wrestling star Myles Amine accomplished a lot in the year 2021. In the shortened wrestling season amid COVID-19, Amine finished 3rd at the NCAA Tournament for the third time in his career, and first time at 197 pounds. He also won a bronze medal at a little thing called the Summer Olympics in Tokyo this summer. But, he’s not done with the maize and blue. On Thursday night, Amine announced his official return to college wrestling for his final year of eligibility. Since the COVID-19 waiver went into effect last season (2020-21), Amine did not lose a year of eligibility.

4 } – Power Ranking All 14 Big Ten Wrestling Dual Teams
Which teams rank at the top of Fanco’s Big Ten wrestling dual rankings for the 2021-2022 preseason? Of course after sharing the Big Ten regular season trophy, Iowa and Penn State are both at the top of the list. Due to circumstances outside of either team’s control, the biggest rivalry in college wrestling was cancelled and we never found out who would have won the dual in 2021. But, that just means that the anticipation for the rematch will be that much more thrilling.

#1 – #5: Who’s in the Top 5?
Not surprisingly, Iowa is the #1 team heading into the 2021-2022 season. The returning Big Ten and NCAA champions are currently riding an 18 match winning streak after going undefeated for the past two seasons. And 2021-22 Big Ten wrestling schedule: Dates, opponents, duals
ROSEMONT, Ill. — The Big Ten Conference office announced the dates and opponents for the 2021-22 wrestling season Wednesday. The schedule features eight conference duals for each of the 14 Big Ten programs and concludes with the 2022 Big Ten Wrestling Championships, to be held over the first weekend in March at Nebraska.
All 14 teams will open Big Ten action Jan. 7-17. On opening night, Jan. 7, reigning Big Ten Champion Iowa will play host to Minnesota, while Big Ten Dual Meet Co-Champion Penn State will travel to Maryland. Indiana will open its conference slate against Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J., Northwestern will visit Wisconsin, and Purdue will travel to Nebraska. The following weekend (Jan. 14-17), Illinois and Michigan will make their conference season debuts by traveling to Rutgers and Ohio State, respectively.

The final regular-season dual will take place Feb. 20, with Nebraska hosting the defending Big Ten Dual Meet Co-Champion Iowa. 5 } – Rutgers Announces 2021-22 Schedule
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers wrestling unveiled its entire 2021-22 schedule, announced Wednesday. The current slate features eight home dates, eight Big Ten Conference duals, a tri-meet at the Prudential Center and several intriguing out-of-conference matchups stretched across five months.
All times will be announced at a later date. Season tickets for the 2021-22 campaign can be purchased here. Rutgers Athletics announced earlier this year its ticketed indoor winter sports – which includes men’s basketball, women’s basketball and wrestling – will return to 100 percent capacity for the 2021-22 season.
The Scarlet Knights open their highly anticipated season with their annual quad meet against Binghamton, Cleveland State and NJCU on Sunday, Nov. 7 at the RAC. RU hosts ranked foes Ohio State (No. 7) and Illinois (No. 21), as well as in-state rival Princeton (Feb. 18). Army (Dec. 10), Indiana (Jan. 7), Maryland (Feb. 12) and Columbia (Feb. 19) also visit the RAC this winter.

6 } – Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling Team Announces 2021-22 Schedule
Nittany Lions host Ohio State in 2022’s return to the Bryce Jordan Center
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State Nittany Lion wrestling team has announced its 2021-22 schedule. Head coach Cael Sanderson‘s squad will compete at home seven times this season, including a return to the Bryce Jordan Center for the 2022 BJC Dual. All times are to be announced and changes may occur with the announcement of this year’s television schedule.
The Nittany Lions, under the direction of head coach Cael Sanderson, will open the 2021-22 season at the Journeyman Duals at Spooky Nook in Manheim, Pa., on Saturday, Nov. 13. Penn State will battle both Oregon State and Sacred Heart in dual meets that day. Penn State’s home opener is set for Thursday, Nov. 18, when Army visits Rec Hall.
Penn State has a split weekend to start December. The Nittany Lions are at Penn on Friday, Dec. 3, before returning home to host Lehigh in Rec Hall on Sunday, Dec. 5. Penn State will then head to Niceville, Fla., just east of Pensacola, to take part in the 2021 Collegiate Wrestling Duals (a multi-team dual meet tournament). The event takes place on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 20-21.

7 } – Maryland 2021-22 WRESTLING SCHEDULE RELEASED
COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland wrestling program announced its 2021-22 wrestling schedule on Monday. Led by head coach Alex Clemsen in his third season, the Terps will wrestle seven nonconference foes, eight Big Ten opponents, and several tournaments. After a season with no fans, Maryland wrestling couldn’t be more excited to welcome fans back to XFINITY Pavilion. Check HERE for all info. The action begins with the Red vs. Black Wrestle-Offs on Oct. 28 at 7:30 PM, a free event for all to come get their first look at this year’s squad.
The Terps will travel for the first time in early November as they compete at the Clarion Open. Maryland’s season begins on Friday November 12 against former ACC rival Virginia, where Clemsen also coached for five seasons in the early-2010’s. The squad’s first road dual will be against another ACC foes as Maryland will compete at Pittsburgh on Nov. 22. December 4 is a double-dual day as the Terps take on Drexel and Duke. The Terps host nearby academy Navy one week later on December 11.

8 } – Purdue Wrestling Adds Highly-Ranked Heavyweight
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue wrestling head coach Tony Ersland made a late addition to the 2021-22 Boilermaker roster Thursday, signing Illinois native Hayden Copass to a tender. One of the nation’s top-ranked heavyweights at the high school level over the past few seasons, and plans to enroll at Purdue at the semester and join the team.
“Adding an athlete like Hayden at this stage in the game is a great boost to our program,” said Ersland. “You can’t coach ‘size’ and he’s got that in spades. Add in the fact that he’s athletic and can really move his feet and you have the recipe for a really successful college heavyweight wrestler.”
A native of Georgetown, Illinois, Copass was ranked as high as No. 1 in the nation at 285 pounds, finishing his high school career at No. 2 via FloWrestling. InterMat ranked Copass as the No. 18 overall recruit in the class of 2021, while FloWrestling tabbed him at No. 32.

EVANSTON, Ill. – Tickets are now on sale for Northwestern wrestling’s 2021-22 season, as head coach Matt Storniolo‘s program looks to build off one of the most impressive seasons in program history while returning a talented lineup competing in the best wrestling conference in the country.
The Wildcats are slated to host six home duals this season (four vs. Big Ten opponents), beginning with a non-conference meeting with SIU-Edwardsville on Saturday, Nov. 13 after kicking off the season on November 6 in East Lansing at the Michigan State Open.

After a trip to the CKLV Invitational in Las Vegas (Dec. 3-4), NU will gear up for the start of the Big Ten season with the return of their home tournament, the 58th annual Ken Kraft Midlands Championships at NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill (Dec. 29-30).
This season’s Ken Kraft Midlands Championships will mark a historic occasion, as the most prestigious wrestling non-conference wrestling tournament in the nation will be adding a women’s division for the first time ever. 150 women’s wrestlers among 11 different schools comprising 10 weight classes will wrestle on Dec. 30.

10 } – Spencer Lee’s Wrestling Record and Other Impressive Career Stats
Spencer Lee’s wrestling record is fantastic heading into his final season at Iowa, but what is even more impressive is the dominance in which he earned his career wins. So, who is Spencer Lee and why should you know his name? The Iowa Hawkeye is seeking his 4th straight NCAA title this season. If he wins, he will go down in history as the 5th wrestler ever to accomplish this incredible feat.

High School Career
Perhaps since the legendary Cary Kolat, Spencer Lee became one of the most well-known and most decorated wrestlers in Pennsylvania history. He paved the way for an incredibly prestigious high school career at Franklin Regional High School where he won three individual PIAA AAA state titles (113, 120 x2) and two team state titles.
He went undefeated going into his last high school match. In the 2017 state finals, Spencer lost his first high school match to his eventual teammate Austin DeSanto at 126 lbs. Lee later revealed that he wrestled from January through March with a torn ACL. And Ben Kueter to Wrestle and Play Football at Iowa
Even though the Iowa Hawkeyes have yet to receive a verbal commitment from the current senior class, head coach Tom Brands’ Class of 2023 is off to a great start. Sunday, the Hawkeyes got a commitment from the #9 overall junior in the nation Ben Kueter (Iowa City, Iowa). Not only will Kueter take the mat for Iowa, but he’s also expected to play on the gridiron for legendary football coach Kirk Ferentz. Kueter is two-for-two in capturing state titles in Iowa’s 3A classification. He won the 160 lb weight class as a freshman before making the massive jump to 195 in 2020-21. This summer, in Fargo, Kueter made the Junior Freestyle National final at 220 lbs.
Not only has Kueter starred in wrestling and football, but he’s also actually a four-sport athlete for City High, competing at a high level in baseball and track, as well. On the football field, Kueter is a tight end and linebacker, while playing centerfield for the baseball team. He was also a part of the school’s distance relay team.

11 } – James Rowley Has Made His College Decision
Cadet World silver medalist James Rowley has announced his college decision.
James Rowley, one of the top prospects in the class of 2022, has announced his college decision. The 2021 Cadet World finalist announced his plans with the following post.
En route to his Cadet World silver, Rowley had to navigate a challenging 80kg World Team Trials bracket where he earned ranked victories over #9 (170) Tate Naaktgeboren, #14 (182) Luke Vanadia, and two wins over #11 (182) Cole Mirasola. He was also a Super 32 finalist a year ago. Rowley could make a big impact for the Badgers, a program that has found success with wrestlers who are familiar with international stages. Just this summer, current Wisconsin freshman Braxton Amos won a Junior World title in freestyle and a Junior World bronze in Greco. On top of that, recent Wisconsin commit Brock Bobzien represented Team USA at the Cadet World Championships in Greco Roman this summer. 12 } – #3 Junior, Rocco Welsh, Makes His College Decision
Ohio State’s recruiting hot streak continues with a big Pennsylvania pick-up.
Rocco Welsh, the #2 ranked wrestler at 170 lbs and #3 in the class of 2023, is headed to Columbus, Ohio to join the Buckeyes. The Waynesburg, PA native took to social media to announce his decision Wednesday afternoon.
Welsh is a 2X Pennsylvania state finalist, Super 32 finalist, and recently competed at Who’s Number One. After taking out former #1 Manny Rojas in round one, Welsh fell to Gabe Arnold.
