Non-conference dual will be Sunday, Feb. 20 in Reynolds Coliseum

RALEIGH, N.C. – After a cancellation to the scheduled top-10 ACC Wrestling showdown between NC State and Virginia Tech last weekend, the two schools have now agreed to meet in a dual in the final weekend of the regular season.

The non-conference dual will take place inside Reynolds Coliseum on Sunday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. The match-up will also be televised on the ACC Network.

“Both (schools) agreed that this is something both programs need, our fan bases both want this and it’s great for the whole conference, in general,” said NC State head coach Pat Popolizio. “A lot of positives came out of a negative situation, and we’re both on the same page this dual meet has to happen every year.

“When you look at the success of the conference, it’s due to the competition within, and with Virginia Tech being one of the top teams in the country it only makes us better to see high-level competition.”

The two teams were originally scheduled to meet in the ACC opener for both schools back on Jan. 21. Due to a decision within the Virginia Tech program, the contest was ruled a forfeit in favor of the Pack, which will result in an ACC win.
