Growing Wrestling Opportunities in eastern N.C.
Great to see a full, complete state tournaments at the Greensboro Coliseum in February. Full brackets, all four divisions and hundreds of wrestlers representing hundreds of teams. Next year we expect even more schools will resume their programs. Girls’ wrestling teams will be sanctioned n North Carolina and we expect that growth will improve opportunities for boys’ teams as well. The growth in college opportunities for men and women also will provide encouragement for more to join in our sport.
The schools in eastern North Carolina that do not offer wrestling are denning opportunities to their students. More students should wrestle for their school, for their team and for their own growth and improvement. What can be done to encourage schools that did not have a team competing this past season to get going and to sponsor a team next year? We are open to ideas and suggestions.
