ST. ANDREWS KNIGHTS ANNOUNCES COACH CAMP AS HEAD COACH FOR 2022-23 SEASON
The St. Andrews men’s and women’s wrestling programs are proud to announce the hiring of new head coach Marquise Camp ahead of the 2022-23 season. Coach Camp arrives to Laurinburg with an extensive resume in collegiate wrestling that spans from his playing career to his coaching pathway.
A physical education major, Coach Camp began his wrestling career at Spartanburg Methodist College where he wrestled for two years in the 133 and 141 pound weight class and also reached the NJCAA National Qualifiers in the 133 pound weight class in 2005. Coach Camp finished his collegiate career at Limestone University in Gaffney, SC where he remained as a three year varsity athlete for the univerisity.
Coach Camp began his collegiate career at Greer High School where he was named the assistant wrestling coach and assistant varsity coach. While at his time there, Camp oversaw 10 individual AAA champions, six Greenville County Individual Champions and two AAA State Champions.
After three seasons at Greer High School, Coach Camp made a move to Berea High School in Greenville, SC where he was named head wrestling coach and assistant football coach. Over his four years with the program, Camp oversaw an abundance of successful athletes including 15 Region 3 AAA Individual Champions, four AAA Individual State Champions and a cumulative record of 73-30 over four seasons as head coach.
2016 saw a new challenge for the head wrestling coach as he moved to Anderson, SC and Westside High School. There he won a Region 1AAAAA Coach of the Year for his dominant success with the school. Camp also received the Anderson Area Coach of the Year award and throughout his time his accolades include 10 Region 1AAAAA Individual Champions, three AAAAA State Qualifiers and in 2016 won the Region 1AAAAA Team Championships.
