Ryan Blackwell to be inducted into National Wrestling Hall of Fame – announced at UNCP Alumni Day
Ryan Blackwell, center, is among those that will be inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame (NC chapter) this spring. He is flanked by UNCP Coach OT Johnson, Martin Fleming, Milt Sherman, & David Perry. Ryan, a former UNCP & Croatan H.S. wrestler, is an American hero. Stationed at the Pensacola Naval Air Station in 2019, Ryan was shot several times by a Saudi terrorist on the base, along with 3 killed & several others wounded. Despite his wounds, he helped 2 other with wounds escape through a window, applied 1st aid, & called for help. He later helped the police & FBI.
