Presbyterian College Zips Past Mount Olive for Sixth Straight Home Win
CLINTON, S.C. – Winning six matches in a row to turn an early deficit into a full-on route, the sixth-ranked Presbyterian College women’s wrestling team extended its home winning streak to a full three years by downing upset-minded Mount Olive 35-12 on Tuesday night.
The Blue Hose handed the Trojans their first loss of the season after entering Templeton Gymnasium with a 3-0 mark, grabbing three technical’s and two straight pins to end with a 23-point margin of victory. Chloe Dearwester (110) and Cassia Zammit (131) kept their perfect individual records intact versus UMO, while 138-pound freshman Carina Giangeruso moved to 10-1 on a 12-2 tech that was finished off in less than one full period.
Snatching the W in both of their duals thus far, the Scotsmen will stay in Clinton for a major early-season showdown against third-ranked King next week. The action will start at 6:00 PM on December 10 as two top-ten rivals square off.
