Humboldt Wrestling Stuns No. 16 Colorado School of Mines in Thrilling 25-19 Victory

GOLDEN, Colo. – Cal Poly Humboldt wrestling delivered a stunning performance on Friday night, toppling No. 16-ranked Colorado School of Mines, 25-19, in a dual that came down to the final match in Golden, Colorado. The victory was sealed in dramatic fashion by heavyweight Carson Hatch, whose dominant performance closed out the night and gave Cal Poly Humboldt their second straight victory.
The Lumberjacks opened the dual with four consecutive victories, setting the tone against the nationally ranked Orediggers. Caleb Tatad kickstarted the night with a hard-fought 7-5 decision over Alexander Sweeney at 125 pounds. Isaiah Miller followed with a commanding pin of Elliot Kim at 133 pounds, recording the fall at the 3:00 mark to energize the Humboldt bench.
Momentum continued to swing in Humboldt’s favor as Nathan Aguilar and Jayson Victoria delivered back-to-back pins at 141 and 149 pounds, respectively. Aguilar dispatched Cole O’Brien in 3:23, while Victoria needed just 2:18 to secure his fall against Yahir Chairez-Salazar, giving Humboldt a commanding 21-0 lead.
The Orediggers mounted a comeback in the middle weights, with Jaron Mahler (157) earning a 13-6 decision over Gil Mossburg, Tristin David (165) narrowly defeating Cole Zoller 7-5, and Garrett Bakarich (174) pinning Diego Robles in just 58 seconds. Colorado School of Mines continued to surge, as Avery Krippner (184) picked up a 15-7 major decision over Micaiah Montalbin and Jeffrey Morosini (197) added a 7-3 decision over Abdurrahmann Garner.
