Roanoke wrestling defeats Ferrum 38-14 in Mill Mountain Theater

The Short story: The seventh-ranked Roanoke College wrestling team defeated Ferrum College 38-14 Sunday afternoon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match held at the Mill Mountain Theater.
How it happened:  
*Isiac Paulino and Jonah Paulino opened the match with technical fall victories at 125 and 133 pounds respectively. Jonah’s opponent, Trent Proctor, is ranked No. 7 in the region.
*Mark Samuel also won by technical fall at 141, but Ferrum took the 149 match by major decision.
*Andrew McDougal scored a pin in 2:45 at 157 in and David Reid followed with a pin as well at 165 in just 1:53 to put Roanoke ahead 27-4.

Averett University Men’s wrestling celebrates Senior Night with ODAC win over Greensboro
DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University men’s wrestling celebrated Senior Night with a dominant 41-13 win over Greensboro College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action on Thursday night in the Grant Center. The Cougars won seven of the 10 dual matches, plus four of five extra matches.
Averett (15-12, 4-0 ODAC) rolled out to a 12-0 lead after the first two weight classes as sophomore Dominic Pascoe got a first-period pin at 125 pounds, and sophomore Jesse Lemon also won by fall in the final seconds of the first period at 133.
Defending national champion Josh Wilson got Greensboro (1-3, 0-2 ODAC) its first team point of the night at 141 with a technical fall, but the Pride forfeited at 149 and 157 as Averett’s dual lead grew to 24-5. At 165, regionally ranked junior Xavier Swanson picked up six more points for the Cougars with a first-period pin. Freshman Tyler-Nicholas Ritz followed with a pin at 174 and senior Noah Harris got a memorable Senior Night win with his 19-3 tech fall at 184.
