Paulsboro’s Paul Morina sits atop New Jersey wrestling win list with 803

PAULSBORO – Before taking a shot at history, Paul Morina sat alone on the top of the bleachers, looking at the future of the Paulsboro High School wrestling team in the middle school meet. Hours later, Morina sat alone again – this time atop the state’s all-time win list of wrestling coaches in New Jersey history. Morina watched his Red Raiders put together one of their best performances of the season as the team presented its coach with career win No. 803, knocking off bitter rival West Deptford with a 36-27 decision on Wednesday. Morina, the face of Paulsboro wrestling for 40 years as head coach, surpassed Stan Woods, who won 802 times in his 57-year coaching career, including 55 years at Emerson/Park Ridge.
