Wrestling Sweeps Carolina Duals, Opens Season 5-0 For First Time Since 2005-06
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The 21st-ranked North Carolina wrestling team swept its three opponents Friday afternoon, in the Carolina Duals.
The Tar Heels blanked UNC Pembroke (49-0), Greensboro College (57-0) and Davidson (47-0), starting 5-0 in dual competition to open the campaign.
The 5-0 mark is the best start to a campaign since the 2005-06 season, and Friday’s three shutouts is the longest shutout streak in program history. Of the 30 matches won by the Tar Heels on Friday, 26 victories were bonus-point wins for Carolina. Up next, Carolina hosts No. 20 West Virginia on Friday, Dec. 12 in Carmichael Arena.
