King Wrestling Dominates Coker, Edges UNC Pembroke in Harrogate Tri-Match

Harrogate, Tenn. – The King University men’s wrestling team competed in a tri-match Saturday and came away with a dominant win over Coker before edging UNC Pembroke in a thrilling finish. The Tornado showed both depth and grit, rolling past Coker 41–5 and then rallying late to secure a 23–22 victory over the Braves.

Caban Named Conference Wrestler of the Week

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Belmont Abbey fifth-year student-athlete Skyler Caban was named the Conference Carolinas wrestler of the week Tuesday afternoon by the league office.
Caban earned the honor after defeating Lander’s Isham Peace last week in a double dual match against Shorter and the Bearcats last week. His win was a 5-4 decision in the 149-pound weight class. Peace entered the match as the No. 4 ranked wrestler in all of Division II in his respective weight class according to the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).
His one was one of three wins over nationally ranked wrestlers from Lander last week.

Fresno City College wrestling falls to Mt. San Antonio in state dual championship

Fresno City College’s bid for a 15th California Community College Athletic Association dual state wrestling championship came up short on Sunday afternoon, as the Rams were defeated by Mt. San Antonio, 22-13. The contest marked the third consecutive year the Rams have lost to the Mounties in the championship match.  Mt. San Antonio held a narrow 15-13 lead heading into the final two bouts, but a major decision in favor of the Mounties sealed the victory and dashed Fresno City’s hopes for a comeback.
