Trojans Roll Past Ferrum 36–6 in First Home Dual of the Season
MOUNT OLIVE — The University of Mount Olive wrestling team delivered a dominant performance in its home opener on Thursday evening, powering past Conference Carolinas foe Ferrum, 36–6, inside Kornegay Arena.
The night opened at 184 lbs, where Jack MacKiernan set the tone with a fall at 6:33 over Joseph Toner to give UMO an early 6–0 advantage. At 197 lbs, Nicholas Mascolino continued the surge with a 16–0 tech fall against Noah Harris, stretching the Trojan lead to 11–0.
UMO kept rolling at 285 lbs, as John Domencic posted a 19–4 tech fall over Braeden Fluke, pushing the margin to 16–0. The momentum carried into the lightweights with Christian Luker at 125 lbs, earning a 17–1 tech fall over Riley Conway to make it 21–0. Ferrum earned its first points at 133 lbs when Josiah Canales edged out UMO’s Eli Pendergrass, 10–8, trimming the score to 21–3.
Mount Olive answered quickly at 141 lbs, where Benjamin Hernandez secured a 20–4 tech fall over Braden Crawford to extend the lead to 26–3.
