Davidson Wildcats Split Duals at Journeymen Jostle
FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. – Davidson continued its challenging non-conference schedule at the Journeymen Jostle hosted by NC State, highlighted by a 43-8 win over Morgan State Sunday afternoon.
Earlier in the day, wrestling their third straight nationally-ranked opponent, the Wildcats fell to No. 13 Rutgers, 49-3.
Despite falling to the Scarlet Knights, Davidson’s Anderson Heap knocked off No. 21/17 Andrew Clark, 7-6.
In all, Rutgers featured nine wrestlers in the polls.
The Wildcats, who fell to Morgan State a year ago, controlled this afternoon’s meeting with pins from Marley Washington (141), Tanner Peake (165), Marc Koch (184) and Daniel Elyash (197).
Bryce Griffin (174) and DJ Spring II (285) also picked up six points each for Davidson by virtue of a medical forfeit and forfeit, respectively.
In addition, Brady Joling bounced back with a 9-0 decision at 125 pounds, while Anwar Alli responded with a 6-4 win competing at 157 pounds.
