Southern Virginia University Men’s Wrestling Shine on Senior Night With Dual Win Over Randolph
Buena Vista, VA – The Southern Virginia University men’s wrestling team put together a dominant Senior Night performance, rolling past Randolph College 39–15 in Knight Arena.
Before the dual, the Knights honored seniors Porter Kinne and Lincoln Trapp, recognizing their leadership through the years and academic excellence as members of the ODAC All-Academic Team.
Southern Virginia jumped out to an early advantage as Jaton Wellington and Talon Whicker both earned wins by forfeit, giving the Knights quick momentum. Senior Porter Kinne followed with a gritty performance at 141 pounds, escaping late and applying constant pressure to secure an 8–6 decision in front of the home crowd, pushing the Knights ahead 15–0.
Randolph responded with wins at 149, 157, and 165 pounds. Adon Overstreet picked up a fall at 149, Matthew Garland earned a pin over Kyler North at 157, and Theodore Piluso claimed a 7–0 decision at 165 despite a hard-fought effort from Wyatt Kinne. The Knights regained control of the dual when Tanner Giatras earned a forfeit win at 174, setting the stage for a dominant run in the upper weights.
At 184 pounds, Harrison Hoopes delivered a quick pin in under a minute, igniting the crowd. Tradyn Henderson continued his impressive season at 197, securing a first-period pin to improve to 6–1 on the year. Marc Richardson concluded the team victory at heavyweight, earning his third straight win with a second-period pin at 285 bringing the crowd to their feet.
