Wrestling Tops Campbell to Open SoCon Play, Edged by Rider in Saturday Doubleheader

BUIES CREEK, N.C. — Powered by a slew of notable results from Carson DesRosier (149 lbs), Thomas Snipes (165 lbs) and Brodie Porter (184 lbs), The Citadel (5-6, 1-0 SoCon) registered a split performance in the weekend tri-meet against host Campbell (2-12, 1-1 SoCon) and fellow visitor Rider (6-4, 2-0 MAC), initially notching the Bulldogs’ first league victory behind a dominant 26-9 performance over the Camels before faltering in the early afternoon matchup versus the Broncs, 31-9, to close out back-to-back duals Saturday at Carter Gym.
“It was good to start the SoCon dual season off with a win,” interim head coach Luke Welch said. “The team faced some adversity this week with sickness and injuries and Campbell have some tough individuals and they compete hard, so to come out on top of that dual meet is awesome. We’re looking ahead towards Presbyterian now, and we’re focusing on getting better every time we compete.
