Women’s wrestling secures first win inside McAlister Gymnasium on senior night
MONTREAT, N.C.— The Montreat College women’s wrestling squad hosted a team dual inside McAlister Gymnasium for the first time in program history on Thursday. After beating the Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons earlier this season, 36-12, the Cavaliers repeated their success on senior night, this time by a 38-12 final score. With the triumph over a Mid-South Conference (MSC) squad, the Cavs climbed to a program-best 14-7 (3-5 MSC) record, while BPCU dropped to 8-3 (0-2 MSC).
Jumping out to a 24-1 lead, the hosts wasted no time establishing the upper hand. No. 14-ranked Morgan Repasky opened the night with a forfeit triumph, while Sirenity Davis followed with a 16-4 tech fall win at 110. Sheyla Ochoa Salgado, Daniela Espinal and Mary Clark notched swift pins across the ensuing three bouts, quickly putting the dual out of reach. Espinal’s victory marked her 25th of the campaign, matching the program’s single-season wins record in the process.
The Barons showed some life with a pin of their own in the 138-lb weight class, but the Cavaliers got right back to their winning ways with three more triumphs. Uriah Peters-Gutierrez and Shay Potter claimed forfeits, and senior Nicole Lewis registered a 14-4 tech fall against her opposition.
Senior Audrey Gribble also wrestled Thursday evening, moving up a weight class to 207. While she was unable to come away with a win, she joined her fellow seniors, Lewis and Marissa Delacruz, in celebrating their collegiate careers alongside a 38-12 team victory. “It’s special getting to honor seniors, … more at … https://montreatcavaliers.com/news/2026/2/5/womens-wrestling-womens-wrestling-secures-first-win-inside-mcalister-gymnasium-on-senior-night.aspx
