Davidson Wildcats Set Program Record for SoCon Wins in a Season
DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson wrestling program reached a new milestone Friday night, setting a school record for Southern Conference victories in a single season with a 26-17 win over Campbell on Senior Night at John M. Belk Arena.
The victory marked the Wildcats’ fourth league win of the 2025-26 campaign, breaking the previous program mark set in 2020-21 and 2021-22. In addition, it was their first win over the Fighting Camels since 2015.
After dropping the opening matches at 133 and 141 pounds, Davidson (6-13, 4-4 SoCon) strung together four straight wins, ignited by Anderson Heap’s 19-4 technical fall over Hudson Waldrop. Heap, the reigning SoCon Wrestler of the Week, climbed into the national rankings Tuesday, debuting at No. 29.
Wrestling in his final match in front of the home fans, senior captain Tanner Peake followed by pinning Ryan Phillips in 5:58 to put the Wildcats in front for good.
A forfeit for Bryce Griffin at 165 pounds extended the margin to 17-7 before senior Marc Koch all but put the dual out of reach with a hard-fought 3-1 decision. Davidson’s final victory came from Brady Joling at 125 pounds by way of medical default.
Campbell (2-20, 1-7 SoCon) also picked up wins from Brant Cracraft (184), Conor Maslanek (197) and Sawyer VanRider (285).
