Stanford Dominates North Carolina

Cardinal defeats Tar Heels, 28-6

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Jack Consiglio and EJ Parco registered upsets to lead No. 14 Stanford past No. 16 North Carolina, 28-6, Friday at Carmichael Arena.
In its final dual of the season, Stanford (7-6, 4-2 ACC) won eight of 10 bouts, including two by bonus points. North Carolina drops to 9-5 overall and 2-4 in the conference.
Trailing No. 10 Luke Simcox 6-0 in the second period, Consiglio registered a reversal and then turned for the fall in 4:54 to give Stanford a 12-0 lead in the dual. It marks the highest-ranked win of Consiglio’s career, and the sixth ranked victory for the 141-pounder this season. He moves to 12-5 overall and 7-4 in duals.
Parco posted his fourth consecutive win by knocking off No 16 Bryce Harper, 2-1, at 165 pounds. The redshirt freshman, who is unranked, notched his second straight win over a ranked opponent as he improves to 10-6 overall and 6-4 in duals.
No. 9 Nico Provo opened the dual with a 4-1 decision over No. 13 Kysen Terukina at 125 pounds. The redshirt junior scored a takedown in the first and an escape in the second to improve to 11-4 overall and 6-3 in duals. He now has seven ranked wins on the season.
In the only rematch from last season’s dual against Carolina, No. 8 Tyler Knox defeated No. 27 Ethan Oakley, 3-0. The redshirt sophomore, who fell twice to Oakley last season, scored a reversal to start the second period and then rode Oakley out to lock up the riding time point. North Carolina Falls To Stanford On Senior Night, 28-6
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Stanford won eight bouts on the night, defeating No. 12 North Carolina, 28-6, Friday evening in Atlantic Coast Conference wrestling action. With the loss, Carolina concludes the regular season with a 9-5 mark in dual competition, including a 2-4 record in conference matches.
On the night, Collin Carrigan (174) and Jacob Levy (285) earned decisions for the host Tar Heels. Carrigan’s 9-7 victory over Stanford’s Collin Guffey was his second-straight ACC win, following last week’s decision against No. 30 Sergio Desiante of Virginia Tech.
Rounding out the match at heavyweight, Levy collected a 9-2 decision against Brokton Borelli. The win for Levy was his first conference victory for the Tar Heel true freshman.  Up next, the Tar Heels travel to the 2026 ACC Championships on Sunday, March 8 in Blacksburg, Va.
