VMI Wrestling defeats Campbell on Senior Night

LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Wrestling came away with its first Southern Conference win of the season in a 32-16 victory over Campbell Friday night at Cormack Hall.
With the win, the Keydets (5-7, 1-4 SoCon) snap their skid and get in the conference win column. This is VMI’s first win over the Fighting Camels since 2015 and its first known win at home since 1979.
Starting the dual at 149 pounds, VMI got the ball rolling with a dominating technical fall from Phoenix Alyea. After getting 12 points from Campbell forfeiting its 157 match and then an injury in the 165 bout, VMI went up 17-0.
174-pounder Beau Lewis earned his first league win in fashion, pinning his opponent in the final minute to put the Keydets in a comfortable 23-0 lead.
Campbell would go on an 11-0 run that cut VMI’s lead in half. But it was another forfeit, this time at 125 pounds, that put the Keydets in the driver’s seat and Campbell out of reach, 29-11. … more at … https://vmikeydets.com/news/2026/2/13/vmi-wrestling-defeats-campbell-on-senior-night.aspx
