Newberry Wolves Men’s Wrestling Ranked #5 In Division 2 In GPA

The Newberry College men’s wrestling program posted the fifth best team grade point average in NCAA Division 2 and was named a National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) 2026 NCAA Division II Men’s Team Scholar All-America Award. Nine Wolves also earned National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) NCAA Division II Men’s Scholar All-American Awards.
To achieve Scholar All-America status student-athletes must have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or qualify for the NCAA championships and have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.

UNC-Pembroke Sends Five To NWCA Scholar All-America Honors

MANHEIM, Pa. – The UNC Pembroke wrestling team continued a long-standing tradition for itself when five of its student-athletes were lauded with scholar All-America accolades by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).
It is the 16th-straight year that the Black & Gold has been represented on the distinguished squad, and the 13th time that the program has sent multiple student-athletes to the listing. The announcement also marks the 10th-consecutive year the Braves have had multiple representatives earn the honor.
Jose Zambrano Canuto earned the honor for the second-consecutive year, while Gus ElliottNick WilliamsJackson Buck, and Cristian Hercules-Pleitez each brought home the honor for the first time.
