Davidson ‘Cats Drop Season-Opening Duals at Brown and Sacred Heart
PROVIDENCE, R.I. / FAIRFIELD, Conn. – After falling at Brown earlier in the day, the Davidson wrestling team suffered a hard fought, 20-18 setback to Sacred Heart Saturday evening to open their 2025-26 dual slate.

In their morning dual with Brown, the Wildcats picked up wins from Luke Passarelli and Bryce Griffin, while Kiyan Simon also earned six points by forfeit at 141 pounds.
Passarelli, a 133-pound senior from Irwin, Pa., put the first points on the board for Davidson with a pin at 3:42. At 174 pounds, Griffin would edge the Bears’ Drew Clearie in the final bout of the dual.

Campbell earns first conference win, two Camels notch ranked upsets
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell wrestling team earned its first conference win of the 2025–26 season Saturday at the second annual Throwdown on the Yorktown in Mount Pleasant, S.C. The Camels also faced Lander and Penn, falling in both duals.
Campbell opened the day with a 32-6 loss to Lander, who entered ranked No. 2 in the NWCA Division II preseason poll. Graduate student Logan Heil delivered the Camels’ first win with a 10-6 decision at 133 pounds, and sophomore Pablo Macias added an 8-6 decision at 157.
The Camels then fell 36-6 to Penn, which is receiving votes in the latest NWCA Division I Coaches Poll. Despite the result, Campbell posted two strong individual performances.
In his Campbell debut, redshirt freshman Anthony Ferrari upset Sean Seefeldt, ranked No. 32 by InterMat and No. 43 by WrestleStat, with a 5-4 decision at 165 pounds. Redshirt senior Conor Maslanek followed with a 7-3 win at 197 over Marin Cosgrove, ranked No. 27 by InterMat and No. 43 by WrestleStat. Campbell closed the day with a 21-19 comeback win over Presbyterian to start 1-0 in conference play. Trailing 13-4 entering the 157-pound match, Macias sparked the rally with a clutch pin with 1:03 left in the third period. No. 21 UNC Wrestling Defeats Navy, 20-18
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Bryce Hepner’s second-period fall highlighted 21st-ranked North Carolina wrestling’s win over Navy, 20-18, Saturday afternoon inside Carmichael Arena.
Hepner was one of five Tar Heels earning wins on the day, joined by Kysen Terukina (125), Ethan Oakley (133), Laird Root (157) and Jake Dailey (184).
With the matchup starting at 125-pounds, No. 19 Kysen Terukina secured his second-straight dual victory to begin his Carolina career, an 11-1 major decision.
At 133-pounds, Ethan Oakley secured an escape and the match-winning takedown with 40 seconds remaining in the bout, to claim a 4-1 decision versus Navy’s Brendan Ferretti.
Root’s major decision at 157-pounds was his second consecutive major decision to begin the dual campaign. The redshirt-freshman collected two third-period takedowns, claiming the bonus-point victory.
Hepner’s fall was the 11th of his collegiate career, and the first for Carolina in duals this season. After earning the first-period takedown, the Avon, Ohio native never looked back, earning the fall less than a minute into the second period.

Cade Parent earn ODAC Wrestler of the Week honors
FOREST, Va. – Roanoke College freshman Cade Parent earned the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Heavier Weight Wrestler of the Week for the week of November 10.
Parent won the 165-pound weight class Sunday at the Averett University Cougar Open. He won all five of his matches, three by pin and two by technical fall. Southern Virginia’s Jaton Wellington Named ODAC Lighter Weight Wrestler of the Week
BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced its Week 11 Athletes of the Week, featuring Southern Virginia University freshman Jaton Wellington, who earned Lighter Weight Wrestler of the Week honors.
Wellington, in his debut collegiate season, impressed at the 2025 Washington & Jefferson Invitational, finishing second overall at 125 pounds.
He opened the tournament in dominant fashion with a 19-3 technical fall over a Penn State Behrend opponent, followed by an 11-3 major decision victory over Fairmont State. Wellington then stormed through the semifinals with a lightning-fast 19-second pin, once again over a Behrend wrestler. He ultimately placed second after a hard-fought championship bout that ended in a fall at 2:49.

Roanoke Wrestling rolls to 53-0 win over SVU

The Short story: The third-ranked Roanoke College wrestling team won all 10 weight classes Thursday night, the first nine in the first period, and rolled to a 53-0 win over visiting Southern Virginia University in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match.
The Maroons had three wins by pin, five by technical fall, one by major decision and one by forfeit.
How it happened:
*Roanoke opened the scoring quickly as Connor Lenahan pinned his SVU opponent in just 1:42. Jude Robson (133), Mark Samuel (141) and Taylor Smith (149) each followed with first-period technical fall victories.
*Taylor’s twin brother Casey Smith won by technical fall 15-0 at 157, while Kyle Lee pinned Wyatt Kinne in 1:55 at 165.
*Xavier Preston earned a tech fall win at 174 and Brock Sullivan had a forfeit victory at 184.
*Hunter Moore needed just 1:34 to pin his So. Virginia foe at 197 and Nicholas Cook rounded out the action with a 10-2 major decision win at 285.

Cougars wrestle hard to beat Division II Ferrum
DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University men’s wrestling took a special 36-2 victory over Ferrum College on Saturday during an exhilarating non-conference dual at the Grant Center.
The Cougars (3-1, 1-0 ODAC) won in nine of the 10 weight classes against the Division II Panthers (1-2, 1-1 CC).
Prior to the match, the team recognized its alumni for their annual Alumni Day. Alumnus include: Austin Long, Thaddeus Wilkerson, Landon Childress, Jaleel Jones, George Moseley, Caleb Calhoun, Brandon Woody, Caleb Harmon, David Shelton, Bryant Quaye, Anthony Taylor, Alex Logsdon and Keaton Gomez. The dual opened at 141 pounds as senior Wyatt Parker fought until the buzzer, but ultimately fell by a 5-4 decision. Sophomore Luke Zadrazil’s 6-0 decision over Ferrum at 149 pounds tied the two teams at 3-3. Senior Carter Shupert put the Cougars ahead 7-3 over the Panthers with a 12-3 major decision at 157 pounds. Averett went on to dominate in the next seven weight classes with wins from Seniors Xavier Swanson (165), Michael Gabbard (174), Khalil Mitchell (184), Jacob Jimenez (197), Carter Erickson (285) and juniors Adrian Samano (125) and A.J. NC State wrestling is ready to rumble ahead of 2025-26 season

There’s never been a better time to be a fan of NC State wrestling.
Led by head coach Pat Popolizio, the Wolfpack returns an impressive squad, featuring multiple ACC champions and a defending national champion in redshirt sophomore Vince Robinson. The 2025-26 season is one that will be marked by the Pack’s pursuit of championships and continuing the standard of excellence established by Popolizio.
After winning the 2025 125-pound national championship, Robinson returns to NC State with sky-high expectations for his encore. Ranked No. 1 per InterMat, Robinson will face multiple title contenders this season, highlighted by No. 4 Eddie Ventresca at Virginia Tech. The path to repeat as national champion looks daunting, but Robinson is no stranger to winning when it matters most.
Last season’s national championship marked the first for an NC State freshman since 1980 and the first-ever national champ in the 125-pound class. With a 24-3 record last season, Robinson showcased consistency all year long. His quickness and fiery approach make him nearly impossible to pin, while giving him the ability to seize the momentum with a takedown at any moment.
Robinson isn’t the only national championship contender in Raleigh; sixth-year Isaac Trumble is back for one last ride with the Wolfpack. Entering the season ranked No. 3 in the heavyweight class, Trumble is a tough competitor with loads of experience that gives him a mental edge over opponents. Making three NCAA Tournament appearances, including an All-American fourth-place finish last year in his first year competing in the heavyweight division, Trumble’s resume speaks for itself.

Barket Remains Undefeated; Duke Splits Doubleheader with Morgan State & Drexel
BALTIMORE, MD. — Duke redshirt junior Connor Barket remained undefeated Sunday as the Blue Devil wrestling team split a doubleheader in Baltimore Sunday afternoon against Morgan State and Drexel at Hurt Gymnasium.
The Blue Devils opened the day with a 28-10 victory over Morgan State and then closed the doubleheader by dropping a 37-4 decision versus Drexel. Duke moved to 3-2 on the season.
A native of West Lafayette, Ind., Barket moved to 7-0 on the year with a win against Drexel, while Morgan State forfeited against Duke at heavyweight.

Nick Ackerman named 2026 NCAA Silver Anniversary Award recipient
INDIANOLA, Iowa – The NCAA has selected Simpson College alum and former national champion Nick Ackerman as one of its 2026 Silver Anniversary Award recipients, recognizing athletes who graduated 25 years ago and have gone on to demonstrate exceptional leadership, service and professional achievement.
Ackerman will be formally recognized during the NCAA Convention in January, where he and the other Silver Anniversary Award honorees – Drew Brees (Purdue football), Tamika Catchings (Tennessee women’s basketball), and Dr. Lauren Witmer (Millersville women’s tennis) – will be celebrated for their enduring impact and accomplishments.
Ackerman is one of the most celebrated athletes in Simpson College history. In 2001, he won the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championship at 174 pounds, defeating defending national champion Nick Slack of Augsburg College, who entered the championship on a 60-match win streak. His remarkable victory made him the first athlete in NCAA history to win a national title without the use of his legs, as Ackerman is a bilateral below-knee amputee due to a childhood illness.
That same year, Ackerman was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the NCAA Championships and became the only Division III wrestler to win the Dan Hodge Trophy, wrestling’s equivalent of the Heisman, which he shared with Cael Sanderson of Iowa State. Appalachian State Uses Strong Finish to Split Season-Opening Duals
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — App State Wrestling began its dual schedule by splitting a pair of Journeymen’s Wranglemania matches Saturday, rallying for a 24-15 win against Hofstra after dropping a 27-13 opener against Navy.
The Mountaineers (1-1) trailed 15-10 before winning the final three matches against Hofstra. Tomas Brooker delivered a 9-4 decision at 184 pounds, and Logan Eller turned a two-point team deficit into a four-point advantage thanks to a first-period pin of Josh Jorgge at 197 pounds. Hofstra needed a major decision at heavyweight to tie the team score, but App State’s Stephan Monchery won by a 19-3 tech fall over Danny Church.
Jarvis Little (major decision at 133), Jeremiah Price (5-1 decision at 157) and Anthony Conetta (8-1 decision at 165) accounted for the other wins against Hofstra, which built a 12-4 lead by winning three of the first four matches, including overtime battles at 125 and 141 pounds.
Brooker, Little and Price all went 2-0 on Saturday, with Brooker posting a 17-4 major decision against Navy in his first dual appearance since he suffered a season-ending injury in the 2024-25 opener.
Little had a 12-6 decision at 133 against Navy, while Price won a 3-2 overtime decision at 157 thanks to a tiebreaking stall penalty following Tiebreaker-2 escapes from each wrestler. Price’s win, which followed Kaden Keiser’s 4-2 decision at 149, gave App State a 9-6 lead at the midway point.

Wallace, Barket Win Two Matches; Duke Splits with Hofstra & Lehigh
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Duke wrestling tandem of Aidan Wallace and Connor Barket won a pair of matches Saturday at WrangleMania as the Blue Devils split two contests with Hofstra (W, 24-17) and No. 8 Lehigh (L, 38-7) at Freedom High School in Bethlehem.
After falling behind, 14-0, the Blue Devils totaled their second straight come-from-behind victory as Duke won six out of the final seven bouts to win, 24-17.
HOW IT HAPPENED – DUKE VS. HOFSTRA
- Duke’s SP O’Donnell got things rolling for the Blue Devils at 149 pounds as he pinned Alex Turley to put six points on the board.
- Freshman Mikey Boulanger then collected his first collegiate victory at 157 pounds as he defeated Frank Volpe, 8-2.
- With a 2-1 win, Duke redshirt sophomore Aidan Wallace moved to 2-0 on the season at 174 pounds with a victory against Jurlus Clark.
