Dudley Rounds Out Coaching Staff, Adds Patacsil and Gutierrez
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell wrestling head coach TJ Dudley has announced the addition of Jake Patacsil and Fabian Gutierrez as assistant coaches. “I’m excited to officially welcome two outstanding individuals to our program,” Dudley said. “Both are ready to work and fully committed to helping us build a culture defined by toughness, pride and a relentless pursuit of success.”
Patacsil returns to the Campbell coaching staff, bringing extensive coaching experience after serving at multiple levels of college wrestling. Patacsil was part of the Campbell program last season that captured a share of the 2024-25 Southern Conference regular season championship.
Previously, Patacsil was the inaugural head coach at St. Thomas University (Fla.), where he launched the NAIA program in 2020. In the 2022-23 season, Patacsil guided David Pierson to NAIA All-America status in just the program’s third year of existence. Pierson defeated the No. 3-ranked wrestler to secure a top-eight finish at 141 pounds.
Before St. Thomas, Patacsil began the wrestling program at Mount Olive (N.C.) in 2018, where two wrestlers qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships before the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Patacsil also spent four seasons as an assistant at Hofstra University, helping produce two two-time NCAA qualifiers and an All-American. In addition, Patacsil has held assistant roles at Duke, Notre Dame College, Central College, Manchester University and St. Thomas Aquinas.

If you’re a fan of folkstyle wrestling and want a glimpse of the top young wrestlers in the nation, the Defense Soap Super 32 Challenge is a can’t-miss event that absolutely should be on your radar.
Not only will the 2025 event feature many of the top high school athletes in the country – including 200 nationally ranked boys and more than 150 nationally ranked girls – the two-day tournament also serves as a crystal ball of sorts, as the field will include future stars just now competing in the Elementary School 8 & Under Division.
This year, the Super 32 Challenge will be held Oct. 18-19 at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina, and we’ve got the schedule for you.

Ranking Individual Transfers for the 2025-26 Season
The news in the offseason never seemed to stop and much of it centered around the transfer portal. While there are gripes about it (and many are understandable), it does add an element of intrigue around each collegiate season. Plenty of familiar faces have traded singlets over the past few months.
The transfer portal isn’t just limited to a few select teams. The five teams atop InterMat’s preseason tournament rankings all had at least one major addition via the portal. Other teams hope to crash that party, potentially led by additions of their own.
This year’s crop of transfers was about as good as any ever. There were two national champions who switched teams. How about a four-time All-American transfer? Or some young stars with multiple years of eligibility remaining. Yes, yes, and yes. All of the above were in and out of the portal this offseason.
And since everyone loves a good set of rankings. We’ve ranked the wrestlers that have swapped teams via the portal leading into the 2025-26 season. The criteria for these rankings were potential impact on the upcoming season and beyond. Wrestlers who have more than one year of eligibility jumped over some more accomplished wrestlers with only one year remaining.
1. AJ Ferrari: Nebraska (from CSU Bakersfield)
Even up a weight class, Ferrari will be a national title contender at 285 lbs. The 2021 NCAA champion, returned to college wrestling with Bakersfield and finished third in the nation at 197 lbs. The returning NCAA runner-up Cornhuskers could roll out a lineup that includes seven returning All-Americans and two past NCAA champions. There’s also a chance that Ferrari could have another year of eligibility after the 2025-26 campaign.
2. Rocco Welsh: Penn State (from Oklahoma State)

Pratapas, Trumble, Wilson Named September Heart of the Pack Winners
RALEIGH, N.C. –Olivia Pratapas (women’s soccer) Isaac Trumble (wrestling), and Will Wilson (football) have been named the September 2025 winners of the Heart of the Pack award, as announced by the NC State Department of Athletics on Thursday.
The Pack Performance group noted the following about this month’s recipients:
Olivia Pratapas leads by example and her voice. The same attributes that make her a great leader as a goalie is what she brings every day. Everyone looks to her for her service and attitude. She consistently gives great effort and responds in the face of adversity. For a short time, she lost her starting job but never skipped a beat in terms of leadership and effort. She managed to not only get her starting role back but play at the highest level while, being nominated captain and unofficial leader of her Pack.
It is very clear what type of person and teammate Isaac Trumble is for the wrestling team. He has to train at different times than the team on occasion, but he’s constantly giving 100% focus and intensity to improve himself to become the best, which can be difficult training alone. NC State Wrestling Announces 2025-26 Schedule
RALEIGH – The NC State wrestling team has released its full schedule for the upcoming 2025-26 season, as announced by head coach Pat Popolizio on Friday.
Featuring 14 total regular-season dates, the team’s slate holds eight home duals, in addition to wrestle-offs in Reynolds Coliseum on October 25th, five away duals, and three neutral-site duals.
Special events and tournaments include the National Duals Invitational in Tulsa, Okla., a tri-meet in Fuquay Varina, N.C., and a quad-meet in Reynolds Coliseum.
Season tickets are still available and can be purchased on GoPack.com here. Fans will be able to purchase individual tickets on this site as well once they go on sale. Start times and television designations for the duals will be announced at a later date.

Montreat Men’s wrestling finalizes 2025-26 schedule
MONTREAT, N.C.— The Montreat College men’s wrestling team finalized its 2025-26 regular season slate earlier this fall, one that features a mixture of 15 open tournaments and dual dates. With seven events prior to the Christmas season and eight dates in the new year, the Cavaliers look forward to a busy 2025-26.
Montreat’s regular season officially gets under way on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Pepsi Patriot Open in Corbin, Ky. The Cavs then briefly dip into dual action with a head-to-head showdown at Truett McConnell University exactly one week later before three additional open tournaments conclude the month of November.
A pair of dates in mid-December highlight the Cavaliers’ schedule heading into Christmas Break. Montreat battles numerous programs on Dec. 13 at the Rocky Top Duals in Gatlinburg, Tenn. Six days later, the Cavs make a return trip to Corbin, this time for the Battle in the Bluegrass.
