Wrestlers Claim 26th Regional Crown With Three Champions and Five National Qualifier

Head Coach Tyler Reinhart earned his first in his inaugural season and the Pitt-Johnstown wrestling program claimed its 26th overall NCAA Super Region I Championship with three champions and a pair of second-place finishers, Saturday afternoon at Fairmont State (WV) University.  
Trevon Gray (125 lbs.), Chad Ozias (149 lbs.), and Dakoda Rodgers (197) all won individual titles, while Noah Gnibus (184 lbs.) and Isaiah Vance (285 lbs.) both placed second to lead the group of five Mountain Cat who earned spots in the 2025 NCAA National Tournament in Indianapolis, Ind. on March 14-15.  
In addition to the national qualifiers, Tyson Cook (133 lbs.) and Cooper Warshel (157 lbs.) both finished fourth, and Mason Myers (141 lbs.), Macon Myers (1675 lbs.), and Tony Salopek (174 lbs.) all came away with fifth-place finishes.  
The Mountain Cats, who put seven wrestlers into the semifinals and five into the finals, had all ten of their wrestlers place in the top-five, to win the regional title with 148.0 points, 6.5 points better than second-;place Gannon.  Kutztown (122.0 points), Millersville (79.0 points), and Frostburg State (77.0 points) rounded out the top-five in the 12-team field..

The TDR Top 12 Men’s Team – 2025

The TakeDown Report will reward the following wrestlers for their successful seasons with an engraved wooden plaque with the wrestler’s name and weight class. The following wrestlers will be listed as a First Team of the top ranked wrestler at each weight, a Second Team, with the next best 14 wrestlers with no connection to a weight class, and the Honorable Mentions are across deep weight classes.  We had planned on post rankings after the Regionals and befoe state but became imprudent and we did not do it. 2025 NCAA DIII wrestling championship qualifiers announced

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division III Wrestling Committee announced today the participants in the 2025 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships.
The championships will be held March 14-15 at the Amica Mutual Pavillion (AMP) in Providence, Rhode Island. Johnson & Wales University will serve as the host.
A total of 210 participants will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championship by placing in the top three of their respective weight classes at one of the six NCAA regional tournaments held February 28, March 1, and 2. The complete list of all wrestlers competing in the championship is available at NCAA.com and the complete seeded bracket will be available on NCAA.com Tuesday, March 11. Big Ten Network presents coverage of 2025 Big Ten Wrestling Championships, March 8-9

The 2025 Big Ten Wrestling Championships, featuring five of the top 10 teams in the country, begins Saturday, March 8, on the Big Ten Network with complete coverage of college wrestling’s premier conference event.
From 11 a.m. ET to 3 p.m. ET Saturday, March 8, the opening session, including the first round and quarterfinal duals, will be broadcast on BTN and B1G+. Session two on Saturday night begins at 6 p.m. ET on B1G+, with coverage of the wrestlebacks and consolation matches. On B1G+, individual mat cameras, as well as the quad box, will allow viewers to customize their experience. Television coverage resumes for Saturday night’s semifinals on BTN from 8 p.m. ET to 10 p.m. ET.
Coverage continues Sunday, March 9, as session three begins at 1 p.m. ET on B1G+ with individual mat cameras for the consolation semifinals and seventh-place matches. At 5:30 p.m. ET, television coverage resumes as Big Ten champions are crowned on Big Ten Network, with third and fifth-place bouts airing on B1G+.

As high school girls wrestling gains popularity, changes are sought and will be considered

NAIA Women’s Conference Championships: Setting the table for NAIA Nationals in Park City, Kansas

The NAIA hosted six women’s conference championship events this past weekend. The tournaments not only determined conference champion teams and athletes, but also serve as qualifiers for the NAIA Women’s National Championships, which will be held in Park City, Kansas, March 14-15.
On February 20, each conference was awarded automatic bids per weight class. Now that the qualifiers have been held, a 12-member committee will meet and select the remaining at-large qualifiers, until a field of 210 wrestlers has been determined. Seeding and brackets will be announced on NAIA.org by 5 p.m. Central time on Friday, March 7.
