Behind a committed Moore, LHU wrestling’s future is bright
From Day 1, Scott Moore had a vision, one that continues to motivate the Bald Eagles head wrestling coach.
MAT-TOWN, U.S.A. – “Listen, no matter what happens, I want to be at Lock Haven.” Those were the words spoken by Scott Moore as he wrapped up a day of interviewing for the vacant head coaching position at Lock Haven University in the summer of 2013. Moore, the interim head coach at the time, was talking about why he moved back to central Pennsylvania, and why he wanted to be the next head wrestling coach in Mat-Town U.S.A. He had a vision. At the time, it was a vision only he could dream of and only he could construct.
Days later, on July 1, 2013, Moore was named the Bald Eagles head coach, and he committed to lead the team. He committed to build on that vision from day one. Today, six seasons later, he is just as committed to the vision and to the future of LHU wrestling. With five All-Americans, 25 NCAA Division I national qualifiers, two Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) Championships and back-to-back top-20 NCAA finishes, Moore is still building on that vision. Call it “The Rise” if you will, but Moore has never been more excited about what lies ahead. Moore has embraced every aspect of coaching at The Haven, and without question, that regard for what LHU is and what it stands for has strengthened his background, coaching ability and helped cement Lock Haven’s rise back to the national stage. Moore embraced the local community and, in return, it embraced Moore. The community – filled with knowledgeable wrestling-crazed supporters – stood behind and supported what Moore was building.
