Coach Lausier Announces Wrestling Class of 2023

DAVIDSON, N.C. –Head wrestling coach Andy Lausier officially announced the seven-man Class of 2023 Monday. The Wildcats welcome to the wrestling room Dalton Blankenship (Aragon, Ga.), Noah Burstein (Northfield Mount Hermon, Mass.), Cian Fischer (Fremont, Wis.), Gavin Henry (Union City, Pa.), David Loniewski (South Plainfield, N.J.), Steven Newell (Dallas, Pa.) and Aedan Somers (Virginia Beach, Va.).  “We are fired up to welcome the Davidson Wrestling Class of 2023, comprised of seven highly accomplished wrestlers from six different states,” said head coach Andy Lausier. “These seven scholar-athletes will be fundamental in providing depth and filling the weight classes of our departing seniors. We can’t wait for them to arrive on campus so we can get to work.”

Blankenship joins the squad after a stellar four years at Darlington High School. The Aragon, Ga., native was a four-time Georgia State Champion and will add depth in the weight room at 141 pounds. Burstein comes to town from Northfield Mount Hermon in Western Massachusetts. He was a Prep National All-American and is listed at both 125 and 133 pounds. Fischer also looks to compete for the ‘Cats in the lower weights, listed at 125 pounds. The Fremont, Wis., native was a NHSCA National Finalist after winning a Wisconsin State crown. Henry, a Union City, Pa., native was a two-time Pennsylvania State Qualifier, finishing as high as third. He weighs in at 184 pounds. Loniewski is listed at 133 and 141 pounds entering his collegiate career.
