TDR announces The Top 12 Awards for the delayed 2021 season
The TDR has recognized wrestlers with The Top 12 Awards for over 20 years. Traditionally we have listed the Top 12 wrestlers at each weight class since 1997. In 1998 we started making and sending out certificates until 2010. In 1999 we put the final Top 12 list on the back of TDR shirts each year until 2011. The ‘Big 4 Awards’ (J.Johnson, R. Heverly, M. Stokes & L.Carroll) were started in 2001 with a trophy being presented. Almost 100 awarded so far. In 2004 Engraved wooden plaques with the wrestlers name was started and has continued each year. The 2020-2021 season was delayed and not completed until the end of June. That and other delays have prevented the presentation of last season’s plaques. Even if they are late the wrestlers earned the awards and should be recognized as the best of the best in eastern North Carolina. They are listed by teams in alphabetical order. We have presented a few and hope to present the rest by the end of the month.

25th James Johnson Memorial Award goes to River Carroll (170) of West Carteret H.S.
30th Michael Stokes Award goes to Jayleen Bullock of Wilson Fike
23rd Lee Carroll Award to Logan Tortual of Rosewood
21st & 22nd Roy Heverly Awards go to of Mark Samuel (120) of Laney and Caleb Beatty (195) of Wake Forest. Beatty is just a sophomore and could repeat in this award next year as Samuel has garnered his 2nd Heverly Award.

As soon as I can meet up with the coaches if possible this month. I can mail them later this month but I am trying to attend some wrestling events to give them out at. What does your schedule look like?
